It's been a while since I've raced... Pennsylvania is cracking down on street racing. Last night, some guy in a Probe GTS with an exhaust (from what I could see) was tailing me while I was doing 75 in a 45 zone. Well, once traffic cleared, we both go at it side by side and the GTS is pulling harder and starts to pass me, then gets a car length ahead of me. Once I hit 115-120, I started to catching up to him but then we both had to slow down cuz of a sharp turn ahead. This is the 3rd time I've raced in my Pearl max (90 SE 5-spd).. which is virtually stock. I wonder if the GTS had more mods under the hood? Who knows.. maybe next time.. but he did wave to me as we both took our seperate ways. I really need to stop racing but it's so tempting when someone tries to toy around and the adrenaline rush is just exhilarating.

The V6 probe/MX6 are no joke....

my sister's 94 V6 5spd mx6 will walk hard on my se-r above 85mph on my speedo. I made a CAI for her car so I guess that is why it pulls on me now. Basically they have the same power less torque and are 200-300lbs lighter.

EDIT: After JDM sr20de swap, UR pulleys and exhaust she doesn't pull me anymore.

Ford Probe GTS? Celicas are GTS's...

Would my stock 91 SE be able to beat a Probe GT? Also, this kid at my work has a stock Probe Turbo that wants to race. I think ill be able to take the Turbo, but what about the newer GT's?

BTW...I used to have a '95 Beretta Z26 (3100 4spd auto) that lost by about 1/2 car length to this Probe Turbo. He also just got his tranny rebuilt.

well my 90-se beat the mx-6 and all it has is a still hi flow intake and gutted cat i would say yes i would not be able to say about the turbo probaly not depends on the size and boost, and what kind of shape the rest of the engine is in. I love maxs to death i just dont think a stock se will beat a turbo probe i might be wrong though.

A 5-speed GT will beat a stock VG auto. The newer GT's are pretty quick cause my cousin had one. If they are both 5-speeds it would be a good race. I love the way probes drive though. Their steering and handling is the closest you can get to a real sports car for the money.

The MX-6's are slower than the Probe GTS..

Don't confuse the Probe GT with the GTS... they are different. The GTS has different wheels, tail lights, interior and also has 2 stripes down the middle of the car.

I've seen a few Probe GTS's, and from what I gather it's a dealer-installed package. It's probably just appearance. Chrome wheels, stickers, and stripes. The Probe V6 is a fast car, it could probably beat a 3rd gen and run even with a 4th.

Its a totally stock Probe Turbo. he says the turbo is winding up all the way either. about 117,000mi on that probe too. im not too worried. i just need to get better at racing a 5spd tranny. all my other cars have been autos. whats the fun in driving/racing an auto??? nothin!

I think newer probe GTs/MX-6s V6s run like high 15s with a 5spd and good driver. from a website i found, http://members.nbci.com/roadtest/database.htm, it says probe 2.5Ls w/ 5spds run anywhere between 15.8 and 15.3. i dont think anyone, besides a pro driver, could squeeze a 15.3 out of a stock probe.

I was at Taco Bell, a local hangout for high schoolers and i saw a 93+ Probe, racing stripes, body kit and shopping cart wing on the back. everything looked and sounded stock. i couldnt even tell by sound if it was a 5spd or auto. i saw/heard him back up and didnt hear the 'winding up' reverse sound a 5spd typically has. that be great, a 4dr family car taking out a riced out probe!

Sorry to say, I raced a Ford Probe GT (Turbo). I took him offlne but he caught up and passed me. I have a 93 SE with in take and cat back exhaust. He stopped to tell me it was the turbo that made him quick.
I plan to redo my exhaust and add nitro. I'll be back.

Well can't say that I have raced a Probe GT. At least now I know what the GTS Probes look like.. Have seen a couple of those before but not for many months. I have raced (if you want to call it that) a riced out probe before (had oriental writing on a Ford car) and pretty much walked all over him. It was an SE so I know it was the 4 banger edition. OH well, at least he was a good sport.

P.S. After being on empty for over 1 month, I've finally refilled my NOS bottle. WOO HOOO..
