My friend bought one (the moron that he is)...
and was completely shocked (the moron that he is) to see that it actually made his car slower...AND he saw absolutely NO increase in his MPG as well.
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the flaw here...how do these guys attempt to say that a more TURBULENT flow of air is going to increase power & mpg?!?!?!?!
Maaaaaan...I bet the same people that buy that thing spend hundreds a month on infomercial products.
I think he was serious........
he claims he has one on his own Max or is planning to get one? their homepage claims "0-35 hp increase", AHAHAHAHA......so what happens when you buy one and you gian no HP???

i was argueing that making turbulent air is worse in a post before but i never got a reply on how supposely its suppose to work. I know it doesnt...oh well, some people learn it hard way.

I'm being Serious
If anyone is interested then email me. If not then its cool. You cant get that many good mods under 70 bucks. Why would the Brea Police dept put these in all of their cars? To look cool? No, more like to save money on high price gas and little extra kick in HP.Theres rumors about it doesnt work, if you dont like it then return it! 30 Days money back! Beat that!

Anyone wanna try?
Shingles?? Your car is slow in the first place..lol j/p.. ITs like the theory of nissan using the net inside the MAF sensor. to better direct air. Talk is talk, and results are impressive. If you want to order from Stillen then order it. They are selling the tornado air now. Why would SEMA sell them. If you guys are interested, and want to know more then go to http://tornadoair.com and do all your reseach there. if you want to order them, they will cost 60 bucks plus 5 for shipping. no tax.......Its up to you, if you want to try. are you afraid to try something and might like it. like i said it comes with a 30 days money back. I seen an extra 30 miles to a tank in my maxima. im getting 250miles to a tank. Thats stop and go traffic in SO CAL.
All I have to say is.......
good luck to those who buy it!! Hmmm....that webpage is kinda shabby!! I just love the <a href="http://tornadoair.com/experts.htm">"What experts say" section</a> ...the names are hilarious, anybody ever met or heard of "George", the "Drag Racing four times Nat'l Record Holder" yes thats a direct quote from their page......
good luck to all of you who get in on this group deal!!

i thought the net was there for another reason. Anyways, how bout you do some before and after dyno runs with Tornado Supercharger and if there is more then a 3hp gain ill buy one! None of this 1 run on 90degree day 1 run on 40 degree day stuff tho.
If you were only gettin 220 miles a tank before Tornadoi think there is something screwy already. i got about 220 miles a tank with my turbo and i was boosting alot.

And if you think you can believe what Tornado publishes on their site, please, that's not research. It does not I repeat, does not make power, does not make you get better gas mileage.
Where did you get this theory about the net in the MAF? The net is used to catch crap that your filter may pass through to stop it from killing your very expensive MAF. Directing air, right. Ever thought about the fact that putting a piece of metal in your intake patch <b> blocks </b> air?
Actually, you are in luck... I have the articles at work.. I'll have to post it after my 9am meeting.
And you are right, my cars are indeed slow...

First, let's look at their claims, this thing works by creating more turbulent air which causes the fuel and air to better mix for combustion. Good idea. The reality? No way. Yes, it will cause more turbulen air. But this will quickly fade. In order for the turbulence to be very effective, it would need to be within about a diameter of the cylinder, which is going to be less than 5". Hard to get that close... Second, even if it did create enough turbulence close to the intake, who cares? Most of this will get smoothed out as the air is forced through the valves into the engine. There's no chance much will survive after being forced through the small openings of the vavles, the air flow into the cylinder will be virtually no different. Now, there may be a small amount of premixing of air/fuel before it enters the cylinder, however the vast majority of mixing happens inside the cylinder so this will be a minimal effect. The verdict? At best, you may gain a very very slight improvement in combustion which would be difficult to accurately measure. But then there are the downsides...
The keys to maximum power are
- cool air
- denser air
- more air
- better mixing of gas and air
The tornado thing claims to fix the last one. In reality, the last on is almost completely dependant on your injectors and how fine they atomize the stream of gasoline into the cylinder. Short of putting the air and gas in a blender before injecting it into the cylinder, there's not a lot you can do to the air flow to improve the situation, there's just not enough time to really mix things better than the injector already does. Now where this thing really loses me is in the first three items. It hurts all three. First, it acts as a restriction to the intake. With decreased area, this thing is going to cause a pressure buildup behind it. The air leaving the tornado into the cylinder is thus going to be at a lower pressure with increased velocity. Lower pressure means less density, which means less oxygen in the air. Because we're accelerating the air over a surface, the skin friciton is going to cause an increase in temperature. Warmer air is less dense, we have less oxygen. Now, the air will be moving slightly faster, which can help, but the fact that it is wamer, less dense air is going to really hurt.
This thing is a ripoff. If it were that easy to get power, auto makers would have been doing it a long time ago. Stillen sells it? Wowee, stillen wants to make money off of fools like everyone else. And as for the MAF screen, it's to keep large objects out. It will create a small amount of turbulence, but with the small diameter and surface area of the mesh, it will all be smoothed out within inches of leaving the mesh.
But hey, don't take my word for it! If you really want one, go to Home Depot and get a $0.99 piece of sheetmetal and make your own. This thing has less than $1 worth of materials and they want $70 for it? What are you paying for, the engineering and design costs? Please, this thing was made by some guy with good marketing skills, a supply of sheet metal, and a pair of tin snips...
Clarifying issues:
Okay, about the screen, I found that out from Cheston when he was experimenting about the screen. He took off his stock screen and didnt see no difference so he put it back on.It shocked me to find out that the reason why Nissan uses the screen was to better direct the air flow and to protect the engine from harmful elements that can destroy the engine. Check it out on chebesto maximadriver.com web page when he gets it up. MAXturbo, i l love your turbo, where do you live? I'm still young, not even able to drink yet until next year. So, I always pedal to the metal on my max thats why I got the tornado air to increase my miles. And I can get the tornadoair item for 60 plus shipping. Its not a home depot item, with cuts and stuff. Its the technology and production of the item. If you have any questions about this product and want to confirm anything, talk to James at tornadoair.com and he will clarify things and even send you stuff w/o any charges (stamp= 34 cents.. damn stamps went up lol).. Its up to you guys if you wanna try, i could care less. C you guys around.
Re: Clarifying issues:
Look, stop being stupid about this.. read the facts as presented by someone else OTHER than the person trying to take your money away.
I notice you conveniently ignore my post about the facts as collected by someone else... why don't yuo look at it again? Stop the sales pitch... makes you look bad to try and push an ineffective product so hard.

I could care less of what you think. Sales pitch? What ever, I'm a freaken College Student!!!! And if you havent checked out tornado air... Its a company, a store! Comprende? It doesnt say nizmolee on it! I talked to the KOREAN guy named KIM, like the other guy posted and he told me that if i could find some buyers then he would do a group deal. I thought that maybe you guys might be interested. Its cool if your not. Everyone has their own opinion, and you can say whatever you want. I'm out. Working on other mods now.
Nizmolee-
You sound like a really nice guy, but it is well known among us true "gearheads" that the "Tornado" does not work. It is a bit of a joke among Maxima.org, the Corral (Mustang site), CamaroZ28.com, LS1.com, and even ClubSi. It doesn't work. SCC has already proved that all too well.
Also, I don't know what's wrong with your car, but I get about 350 miles out of tank full, driving hard, with about 85% city travel. I've even gotten 450 miles on 16 gallons on a highway drive at 75mph.
