resetting ECU in a 99 (screw is not flat-head)

i was just kinda curious today and looked at where the screw should be to reset my ECU. Upon looking i discovered that its not a flat head, but rather a small philips head that would work. It also appears to be set just a shade lower than the hole is wide. So my question is, is this normal, and is resetting the ECU the exact same procdure??

also my max was made in 9/98, but it is a 1999. PLease post any tips too, like does it break easily or something.

thanks
Cris

My 99 was the same. I just used a real small philips as you stated, and it worked fine.

Yes, its normal, and yes, the same procedures work on it. I could imagine that it would be VERY easy to break, so don't force anything.

Yes, mine is the same way. A small phillips head screw driver is what u need. My plastic screw is located downward and to the left of the opening. Thus I have to insert the screwdriver on an angle to get to it. Getting the codes and resetting is the same procedure as the other ecu's.
