2002 Maxima

The million dollar question is if Nissan will put the 3.5L engine in the 2002 Maxima? No one for sure knows if this will happen in 2002 or 2003. The new model year usually comes out in September. Speaking from my own experience the 3.0L Maxima engine is a great engine, but if the 3.5L engine was around the corner I would wait. Maybe in a few months their might be more info about when the 3.5L engine will be put into the Maxima.

I thought the maximas come out earlier than Sept...Isn't it more like July?

Anyways per my resources which will go unnamed...2002 is the year for the MAXIMA SE-R, and it will have a few goodies the new se-r sentra has I can't say anything more...or he will have my hide.

I was going to wait, but got my new 01 I30T anyhow. Here are some things to consider.

The 3.0 VQ is a tried and proven engine. We already know its capable, and reliable. Who knows what issues will arrive with the new engine, especially the first model year.

Secondly, you can wait, and wait and wait, and a year after you buy this “Maxima SE-R” something bigger and badder will still come along at Nissan or elsewhere. Its like trying to have the best PC, only here, innovations are monthly. It all depends when do you WANT a new car, and if you got a good deal or not. If your wanting a car now, it may or may not be worth while to wait, because no one really knows the FACTS about these Nissans to come. Those that do, won't tell.

Re Maxima

Russ2kse,

Sometimes the new model year comes out in July, but more often it is September like model year 2001.

Texmaxima,

I know what you mean about waiting, I purchased my Maxima in March and there was talk about the 2001 maxima having the 250-260HP motor which almost delayed my purchase. I am glade that I didn't wait because I would still be waiting.
