I know ALOT of people out there are buying things to block their EGR, but in actuality, it's as simple as plugging one small vacuum hose.
The only possible gains I can see, is lower intake temperatures. If someone can show me Dyno proof that it 'restores' power, then i'll be a believer.
I did this and I know it doesn't hurt... so it might help. It definitely doesn't give you 10 HP. I MIGHT give you up to 1 HP. Some DSM guys are seeing 10HP, but not us.
I fabbed up a block plate out of an 18 guage steel plate with holes screwed in it for the studs. I just removed the EGR valve, slid the plate on the studs, then sandwiched the EGR valve back on. Some have put that plate on, put new studs in, then crimped the exhaust tube and plug off the vacuum source. I just blocked it and left it alone. Does the same thing, pretty much.
What the plate does is keep the exhaust gases from going back into the intake. So, it keeps the intake cleaner and cooler. It's a free mod, but I seriously doubt you will get anything more than a couple HP.
I blocked my EGR just b/c I am out of go fast mods. I need more ideas. I would not recommend this unless you are trying to squeeze that extra hundredth of a second out of your Maxima like I am.

i dunno guys, the way the EGR operates is very specific. Meaning it only recycles exhaust at certain times, all the other times exhaust doesn't reach your intake because the valve is closed. When you're at the track and you're racing, throughout the whole race the egr valve doesn't open up to allow exhaust recirculation, so you don't gain anything, you don't lose anything by having it blocked. The only time the egr opens is if you're cruising at a nice steady rate.
