I hate to say it, but if this is true ('03 maxima built in Japan, '04 built in USA), I am glad I got the 03 instead of the 04.

Yes, they shifted all US bound Maxima production to the US. All 5th gens (and I think all gens before that) were made in Japan.

why? the cars are assembled in the US. All the parts are still built in Japan. Thats the best of both worlds, it gives people in the US jobs while keeping the japanese engineering.

Don't get me wrong. I am definitely for the cars being built in the USA as far as jobs go and keeping the bucks here. But, nobody, except maybe the Germans, can build a car better than the Japanese.

the interior quality of the 04 maxima is very good, even though it was built in the US, it still feels like a japanese car

Japanese parts, Japanese Machinery, only thing different is the plant is located in the US, and the people pushing the assembly line buttons are American.

I can't phathom the car being that much different because of those few reasons
