Are summer tires bad with rain...?

I have perelli pzero nero 235/35/19. Well today it was raining and while driving home it felt weird i guess. Maybe it was just me but it sorta felt like i was gonna hydro plain...or maybe the feeling was it gripping. Either way are summer tires normal crappy with rain...im gonna be taking a long trip and if i encounter rain i dont wanna be screwed. The tread on front tires should be about 90% back maybe 75% i had them on for a few months last year abnd just puy back on like 2 weeks ago and rotated them. The tread on these tires seems to get eating up quick. So is it me or are summertires ok with rain. Thanks

Pure summer tires usually suck pretty bad in the rain. I have Comp T/A's which are a summer tire on my car here in WA, and will deffinetly be switching to a all season before next winter. They suck in the rain, but nothing too scary... yet...

My Dunlop SP8000 were great in the rain.

The Bridgestone S-03 Pole positions we put on the 330 are excellent in the rain.

Not all summer/max performance tires suck in the rain.

Some summer tires excel in the rain... I have Falken Ziex 512s and they are great... It poured all day yesterday (first time with new tires) and on the highway it felt like dry pavement... Lots of stopping grip and no hyroplaning at all... I was even starting to try driving on the puddly water that gathers near the shoulder
