My very interesting journey home today.
:startrant:
I finally get the call from the service department that my shifter bracket has been replaced. I have been driving around for about 5 months with zip tied shifter cables on my tranny. You people complain about crappie shifting? Try going through that for awhile. This thing shifts like a dream (to me). Too bad I didn't get off my lazy butt and get this fixed last November when it broke. LOL
While I am there to pickup the car the (new) service writer throws a big bomb in my face that I totally wasn't expecting. He said " so is it true that you had nitrous on this thing?". I just froze and gave him a blank stare then looked for the other service writer for backup who didn't do a good job of it. The guy kept asking me about it but I refused to comment. He finally said "come on tell me it doesn't matter". I just answered by saying "All I will tell you is that the car ran a 12.9 @ 110 at Rockingham
. I don't think he totally understood what that meant but that's ok with me. I followed it up by telling him "All I know is that when it comes through your doors here the car is stock". Neither one of them had a problem with that and seemed to appreciate it. I didn't know the new guy that well and still wasn't comfortable with the dialogue. I bet one of the tech's ratted me out.
I'm about 3 mins from home and start paying too much attention to this '04 Silver Maxima. As I approach a stoplight I wait for him to get beside me so I can ask the guy to comment on his new car. The light turns green as soon as he gets beside me so he drives away minding his own business. The vehicle in front of me takes off so I do the same then he makes an abrupt stop within a few seconds. I notice this a little late and have to feather the brakes harder than I would like but still have plenty of space between he and I. Now I turn my attention to my rear view and see this Ford Explorer beaming down my backside (turned out to be a Mountaineer). I see him nosedive so I immediately inch up as far as I can go without hitting the mini van in front of me. I hear the guy doing the manual ABS foot trick then I get a nice bump.
So now this damn car has been rear ended TWICE in the same freaking intersection!!! Maybe the third time will do enough damage to total it out so I can buy a G35 Coupe.
I pull off the road to unclog our roadblock and inspect the car. I can't see any physical damage so I just get the guys information and go on about my business. Last time the cop wouldn't even file a report so I figure why waste my time again for the same crap. It just irks me that this crap has to happen. I beat the car enough without having to worry about people running into it with other vehicles.

Yeah that poor guy told me he had been rear ended twice too. Once in Atlanta just a few days ago. This ordeal was entirely driver habit errors and partially my fault too. I am glad I gave him all the room I had as to avoid damage. He has Nationwide insurance.
The worst situation you can ever be in is to get hit by someone who has Nationwide. They have the most continuous pending litigations of ANY US based Auto insurance writer and constantly refuse to pay up.

Sorry, Matt.
Don't you hate that uncomfortable situation that you can get in with the service writers. I'm getting to where I do everything on my car now so I don't have to take it in. Warranty work though - change back to stock.
Hope you can buff out bumper.
