Antenna not lowering all the way

For a week now, I've noticed that my antenna is only lowering three quarters of the way down. It has completely lowered once during the week, and that was at the beginning of the week. Can anyone tell me what could possibly be the problem. Is it the antenna's motor? Thanks for your help.

It has probably lost some of it's lube

When you wash your car do you ever spray the antenna?

Spray some white lithium grease on it. Works for mine.

I'm having the same problem with my power antenna. It was worse in the winter during cold weather. I did spray silicon and wiped off any grit. The motor makes a noticable groaning noise when its almost finished retracting.

I heard (or read once) that you shouldn't use silicon in this application for the very reasons you stated...

I've been having problems with my antenna for years, and according to the dealer it's best not to use any lubes since over time they collect dirt and cause more damage than benefit. They recommended periodic cleanings with Windex, but that's not working very well. I really don't know the answer here. Hopefully somebody does.

I had the same problem. I fixed with a $14 antenna mast from Pep Boys and this linkhttp://www.carstereohelp.com/repairD...ssanPwrAnt.htm

Cleaning with WD40 works well.

Also, your antenna may have bent slightly over time (there's a lot of pressure on it when you're driving 100mph LOL).

Check out how straight your antenna is when parked w/ the radio on...
