MAF problem/question
In a brilliant move while cleaning the throttle body, I managed to break the three solder joints in the side of the MAF that connect to the plug. Don't ask-I was being stupid.
Has anyone ever tried cutting a small portion out of their MAF housing near the plug and resoldered these connections?
The local stealership is closed and I need to (hopefully) get this put back together tonight.
Thanks

It took abount 30 minutes to take the cover off and get rid of all the factory sealant on top of the MAF. Fired up my trusty soldering iron and 30 minutes later, it fired right up!!
Woo-hoo! (I got lucky)

Question... while you had the cover off, did you notice if the actual hotwire was removable (screws holding it in)?

I felt equally brilliant when I did this. At first, I thought I could just put it back together without soldering. However, this idea was shot down when going down the interstate and the RPMs were suddenly limited to 2500! I was on a trip and was able to slightly bend the connections to make it work right, but I eventually opened it up and resoldered. As far as the hot wire being easily replaced, I'm not sure, but I would guess not.

What started all of this is my being blindly stupid and removing the 4 screws that hold the connector in the side of the MAF. I pulled on the plug, thinking it would release, but I broke the three solder connections inside the body of the MAF.
A quick solder job and I am back on the road. Now I have to get some hi-temp silicone to seal it back up.
I got lucky.
