Ideal Air/Fuel ratio...

I was wondering for a NA Max what is the ideal Air/Fuel Ratio? My dyno shows that i'm running kinda rich on in midrange and rich at redline. (4000-5000 & 6000-6500 as low as 11:1)

Ideal is 14.7:1. As I've gathered from these forums, Nissans run a little rich, but not like what you have. I suggest you do some maintenance, like change the air filter, check/clean your MAF (use electrical parts cleaner from Radio Shack) and maybe replace your O2 sensors etc.

Not disputing, but are you sure of that?

I thought 12.1:1 was ideal.

Maybe 12.1:1 is ideal only for boosted cars....I dunno.

That's the ideal, or perfect ratio, stoichiometric. I vaguely recall on the dyno for my car, 98 5 speed, I was reading a 12.4:1 at hi rpms. I was told it was a bit rich but not a major issue. Nothing a tune-up wouldn't fix.

Damn...I'm running 12.1:1 across the board right now with the SC, Cartech Adjustable FMU, and SAFC....So you're saying at high RPM I can go to, say, 14.0:1?!?!?

That would add a good chunk of hp for free.....

Someone confirm this!

I know most of the people that use a SAFC is boosted but is the A/F still the same if I'm NA compared to SC or TC?(I know that theres only a minimal if any gains with a SAFC) I just bought one and would like to know what the ratio should be set to across the board ideally. (I am planning on getting boost later on) but for now I would still be NA, I'll probably be dynoing it in a few weeks from now though.
