arrrrrrrgggg!?!?! stupid #@$# belt

ok so yeah i notices a strange sound coming from the engine bay today. from the front right coners like a wierd whiping sound.

pop the hood and look inside and sure enough plap plap plap plap....
i look at my belt and i see it really whipping around in there.

while the car is in drive the belt is really vibrating around right where the belt crosses the oil retun line. i don't remember that happening before.

so here is the question is it a pulley going bad. or did the belt tensioneer somehow work itself lose. im gonna take a look tomorrow see if its a quick fix or if this is gonna be a car down in the drive way problem.

any suggestions advice will be much appriciated.

damn and its track day next sat. this sucks

Sorry to hear about the belt, it's a real heartbreaker when you look under that hood and see it. This happened to me about 2 months ago, the cause of it was one of the rails melted off the tensioner pulley and threw the belt out of alignment. I'm pretty sure that the reason the rail melted off of the pulley was the belt being over-tensioned. I still have the pulley in my room, i'll try to post pics if I get a chance.

Sorry to hear that Frank. I guess we jinxed you at our last meet when we asked who had problems with our S/C belts with the smaller pulleys.

Please keep us up to informed it it was a loose pulley or not.

Keep an eye on the edge of that belt and the tension.

make certain you tighten the tensioner bolt in the center of that same pulley...after adjustment...or else
