Mobil 1 M1-108 vs. M1-110 oil filter

Autozone recommends the M1-108 but others have said use the M1-110. What's the difference. I bought the 108 today. This isn't an Autozone computer error or anything is it?

Which motor do you have. Someone on this board tried the 108 and ran into an interference issue. In otherwords it physically would not fit into the space.

I have the 3.0 and use the 110.

I still haven't found a store that sells them yet, so I haven't had a chance to try it myself, but NT2SHBBY uses the M1-110 in his 3.5 with no issues. He's the one I got the part # from.

Use the M1-110.

The bypass valve is rated the same at 14psi, and basically the only real differences are the actual size and smaller filtration area for the M1-108 to fit in the SR20DE engine compartments.

M1-110s work on all VQ30 and VQ35 models.

Note:

For VQ35DE owners, use the M1-105 due to its better top end bypass valve design. It's better constructed than the bypass valve of the M1-108 and M1-110 filters.

OK, this is probably a dumb question...but what is the difference (if any) between VQ35 and VQ35DE? I have an automatic 2003 SE, so does that mean I should use the M1-105?

I believe you have this backwards......the 110 is longer than the 108 so if they had issues, they had it with the 110.

I used to use the 105 which is much larger in diameter, which I believe had clearance issues with some cars, not mine though. I dont believe the 105 is available anymore, so I use the 110 now. No clearance issues at all. I believe that the 108 is what is recommended for our cars, but it has been shown here on the org that the 110 works better.

I've heard that the bypass valve on m105 needs higher presure to open, which is not good for the engine when cold.
