ECU fault code: Undefined

I have the following codes and I tried the site but it is underfined.

04-09
04-13

Does anyone know? These codes came on when my driver side headlight went off.

Why does the highbeam dashlight come on when the passenger side headlight goes out and the engine light come on when the driver side headlight goes out?

04 09 undefined

I just had the 04 09 code. However, the headlamps and everything else (as far as I can tell) works fine. Here is the description:

Car: 1998 Nissan Maxima SE Automatic. Mileage: 44,500
The check engine light came on. I checked and received the following code - 4 long 9 quick pulses (04 09) which comes back as undefined. Then I reset the module and it blinks 5 long, 5 quick (05 05 = no error codes/no problem recorded). Two days later the check engine light came back on. Checking it gave the same exact results (04 09, followed by 05 05 when resetting). The car is running fine and the gas mileage is normal (~21 city, ~29 highway).

I got these same codes when I had a bad Oxygen sensor. I beleive it's the 0409 code that tells you an Oxygen sensor is bad. The 0413 is the knock sensor code that just shows up whenever you have a bad oxygen sensor. This is if my memory serves me correctly. Ask a dealer or go to an Autozone for a free diagnostic check. They'll tell you exactly what the issue is, assuming that your check engine light has come back on.

0409 is an "upstream O2 sensor circut slow response fault (right bank)"

0413 is the same thing for the left bank of cylinders.

Solution: Replace both of your oxygen sensors. That's what I did, and haven't gotten a code since. I also replaced my knock sensor around 100K, so I can be sure it's working properly.

Thanks.

Thank you for all your help.

Just wondering is replacing the 02 is easy? I just looked and autozone has a Bosch OE sensor for $78. Is there a thread that covers how to replace (search is not working)?

Also is this repair covered by the 5yr/60k miles factory powertrain warranty?

Thanks Chad. But I also got the 03-04 code and that's the Knock Sensor code. Could there be 2 Knock Sensor codes?

I put my OEM headlight bulbs back on and the check engine light is gone.
