rack/pinion/alignment question. Need help please!

Ok here is the deal.
I recently lower my car and right after I was done I took it for an alignment. 2 hours later I picked it up and when I was driving back home I notice that the steering wheel was still not center. It was tilted to the left. Since it was kinda late I had to wait until today to take it back. So today I drop off my car and yeah again they took it on a test drive and they notice the problem, so again I waited there for about an hour and the guy that was working on my car tells me. "Well we won't be able to center the steering wheel properly because the rack & pinion bushing need to be replace". He showed me under the car but I have no clue how they supposed to look like. Any way the funny thing is that the car was perfect on alignment before I drop it. So my question is. Can that be possible that they really have to be replace? the car has 80K miles and I am sure those are the original bushings. He adjusted the toe but it still not center, and the car pulls alittle bit. How much will replace the bushing cost?
Thanks for the help and sorry about the long post.

You need camber bolts. Camber isnt adjustable on maximas. Maybe that will fix the pulling to one side.

Here is my 2 cents I work in a garage for a long painful time there is only one really adjustmen and is toe but where I worked they would have not done the work if they knew something from the suspention was bad -2nd to fix the camber adjustment don't go and buy camber adjustment bolt for like $50.00 or more simply get a little bit smaller diameter or grind the part in the middle is not a poorsman bolts but is the same as buying adjustable camber bolts try it is what alot of garages do instead of spending money but if you have it spend it -or try to loosend (enough)the camber bolts on the both of the struts lower the car so the tires look good enought not in or out too much ...hope this helps
lay ta good luck ..

Thanks for the help guys. Actually I don't have camber problem the camber reads 0.08 for both sides. I guess thats good. right? any way today on my way to work something funny happend. I was just turning on an intersection to the right and I floor it just abit ( actually alot ) just in my first gear. Well after that I got on the freeway and my steering wheel is now center properly. is so perfect I couldn't believe it. It doesn't pull any more to any side. Is that good or bad? do the alignment guys have to mess with bolts or loosing up something? could that still be loosen up? I am afraid something is gonna fall apart and I am gonna loose control and hit someting. I have no clue how alignmets work.

Bad, that tells me your rack is indeed loose. Replace those bushings, they hold the rack in place, yours is moving a bit.

You need to bring the car in, slowly, ASAP or get it towed....

In no way should the steering wheel position change that much while you are driving...

Something is very, very loose and will probably come apart.

Take it, or have it towed, to any one of 100 other alignment shops that know what they're doing!!!!
