3000gt Sl or Maxima GLE all options body kit

My friend wants me to trade a 94 3000gt SL 140k miles with chrome vr4s for my 95 nissan maxima gle. I would trade but, he said hes gonna take out the skyline body kit and the touring rims, painted side skirts(ionic dynamic), rims, and altezzas, clear corners, stut tower, intake, y pipe, and aluminum gauge bezel. I was wondering if A 3000gt is faster than a maxima gle. I dont know, i drove it it feels like its slower..And heavier...

Plus, its a coupe, kinda ok condition, seat has a hole, no system. But the outside loooooks hella nice.

My maxima has 108k and it is all options, leather, sunroof, reliable, everything(including body kit rims, and all thats smack)

should i trade, it sounds stupid but whats worth more a 3000gt or a maxima.....

Why get a N/A 3000GT wishing it was a VR4? It's a big fat heavy oaf that has ZERO potential. Keep the Max.

With everything taken off (pretty much) then it really isn't worth it at all. You would definitely wish you had a VR4 instead (which, IMO, isn't really that fast anyway).

3000gt has 222hp and weighs 3800lbs
Max has 190hp and weighs 3,100lbs or so...
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
ALSO insurance on 3000gt will be worse, they are less comfortable, don't have that much aftermarket support (its all aimed on VR-4's)
There are many reasons to keep the max, so do so!

Keep the max. I raced a car like that and beat by 3 or 4 car lengths. You would lose space and reliability.

Re: 3000gt Sl or Maxima GLE all options body kit

140k is a lotta miles. straight-line performance they are pretty close. 0-60mph maxima wins, on a highway run i think the 3000gt will
pull ahead a little with the extra hp. Its not 3800 lbs, that is the weight of the vr4 model so the SL is ligther than that, closer to 3300 lbs. a stock 3000gt is great for twisties and i personally think it looks pretty good. Maxima is more reiliable and is much more spacious.

I had a 93 Dodge Stealth RT but now I'm driving a 96 Maxima SE.
If i was you I wouldn't trade =) there seems to be more modfications to be found on the Maxima and for cheaper. If you were trading for the twin turbo AWD vr4, then i would say go for it.

When I was looking for cars I test drove a 97 NA 3000GT and that thing sucked donkey *****. It was uncomfortable, plenty of leg room and head room though. The backseat was a joke and the insurance companies would rape you on insurance. My Maxima had more power, more nimble, and has great performance and insurance rates.

man, ive been thinking. Ive been researching a lot and could never find as much support as the org. I mean, the org is i think the best car site ive seen. ive been to the 300zx forumn called zcar.com its wierd compared to this forumn. Then i went to 3si.org and its hard to get the organization that maxima.org has. It has dodge in their with the 3kgts its wierd, the stealths, look wierd and its wierd seeing its american version all the time. The vr4s, are crazy too. I know ive researched the staged turbos kits say they can beat diablos with the 500 plus hp tubo kit. i saw it here at dynamicracing.com
I was surprised when i saw this. They also have the na staged kits, which starts off with stage 1, belts, pulley, and intake. Then stage 2 is like borla catback exhaust and intake piping system. Ive never seen such parts for a max. But its all so different. its wierd.

Ive been thinking about trading, i know i sound dumb but. My maxima....is so nice and reliable, never had any problems with it at all and drove it 13,000 miles this year. July 1 will be our anniversary. But....hmmm. The 3kgt just seems like my car... I mean, the maxima seems so perfect, never any problems. But everythings done, the cars perfect. Now i want to move on and fix another car up. First get some sparco seats, then, stage 1 na upgrade, all the way to stage 5. Then, sound, and change the wing to a stock 98 wing. And thats my project for this year. I liked my first maxima, but feel that i wanna give it up, i want something, 2 door.
ill miss the max a lot, especially all options, to no options... But
the 3kgt will be fixed up with dvd player and such.
thanks for all your support, i will update you guys on the trade.
Ive gotta admit, its impossible to find a website as perfect as the org....

Maybe if you had a 5-speed your decision would have been different but oh well.

Wow. The N/A 3000GT has more aftermarket support than I would think. But still, looking at his original post and the fact that he's getting an SL tells me is not into performance as much as we think.

my 2 cents

I've been looking into a second car to mod and keep the max.
the 3k was one I looked at. I have tested drov e 2 sl's and neither compare to my max. They are uncomfortable, they do not accel, and the handdling really not. The torque is not tha impressive. As for the after market. Everyone wants to sell the SL's because after the basic bolt-ons it is not cost effect to mod. You can do a TT conversion and end up with a fronty wheel drive TT, but when you look at the total cost you are better off buying the VR-4. This has many upgrade pathes, but it still uncomfortable.

I think I am either going to endup with an Rx-7 (yes I know they blow up reguallry) or a 350Z and turbo charge it. The moded max will stya my daily driver that kicks A**

My 2cents.

A 3000GT SL has 222hp, but how much torque? If it's significantly heavier then a maxima, with the same displacement, then it's going to feel and be slower.
