any help appreciated

OK. A couple weeks ago I thought I had a bad knock sensor. The motor would hesitate until over 3k and then it would haul ***. So I did the knock sensor bypass with the resistor. It really did work. For one day it worked. The power would kick in so much sooner and my low end was way better. Next day I wake up all happy to find that it hesitates again. OK, so i bought and replaced the knock sensor with the harness. After 4 days, it still hesitates like it did before. Im stumped. Is there any way the engine harness connected that plugs into the knock sensor harness is somewhere corroded where it meets the ECM. cause I Looked in my Chiltons and the Knock sensor is a strait shot to the ECM. Any help or any ideas are most appreciated. Im very stressed out over this and I want my car to be fast again. Thank you

see if you can have someone with an obd2 scanner check out the car. most will show you o2 sensor readings, if it fluctuates, wiring and sensors are "supposed" to be good

you don't need an OBD reader, just run the self diagnostic from the Chiltons/Haynes manual, it'll tell you the same thing a reader would. and will throw the proper code if its not working right. I don't even think our cars are OBD2 to begin with??

the thing is, it throws a 55 code, which means nothing wrong. Im just still way confused as to why it worked one day and didnt work the next???

i think ours are obd only, but obd 2 will work on ours and will read what the o2 reading is, wether it fluctuates, etc. by running a diag you only get a code

so where can i find someone with it??? like a dealer or any repair shop?? you say it only reads O2 stuff so do you think that my lack in power has to do with my o2 sensor??? please explain a little more if you could. thanks

nope, there is an A/F monitor built into the ECU self-diagnostic as well...it uses the green/red lights to show A/F ratio, I think its Mode I or II, you have to check the Haynes
