who copied who....nissan or pontiac

I'm srry but the fronts of the new maxima's/sentra look very similar to the sunfire front and other pontiac prodcuts....I'm speaking about the grill area mostly. Remember the grill inserts for the maxima that made them look like the front of a gtp...grand prix...what is nissan and or pontiac set on looking the same. Srry just a pet peve...anyone else notice this..here is a link to the sunfire.

I dunno pontiac has made lots of tooth looking front ends in years past, but I thought this thread was going to be about the desert commercials. When Nissan had the 5th gen going through the desert Pontiac bit off of Nissan and did a similiar one with the 04 Grand Prix.

There is no resemblence other than the fact that they use a similar styling cue (the break in the grill), but thats not "ripping" off anyone.

Don't really see it either.

I'd be loosing sleep over people not being able to distinguish between my 6th gen and a Saturn Ion from the rear though

Nissan always tries to sell based on having more HP than the competition, but you can go all the way back to 1989 to try to find a single car they've put out that looks good. Look at the new Maxima SE or L or whatever they call it--245/45/18 standard. Of course, the by now world famous RS-A which is what, 1996 technology? Not a lot of cars have 18's standard in the 26-27 price range. But at the same time, over 25 grand for a car you expect it to look good and have good fit finish. Those door panels on the new Maxima look like gar****! The grille looks like s*** and the back does look like a Elantra or Saturn what, ion or something? UGLY.

The 6th Gen Maxima is REALLY growing on me. I actually love it now in black, white and silver. I hated it more than you when it first came out but not anymore.
I still think my 4th Gen LOOKS better, the '02 to '04 would spank me though, can't beat HP!!
