recurring CV, front axel shaft problems.

there has been a kind of pulsating howl coming from my front suspension for a while now, since i bought the max 2 months ago. i've replaced the two front bearings, which didn't help at all. then the whole axel shaft assemblies, CV joints and all. this SEEMED to fix the problem, smoothing it out and quieting it somewhat. i just attributed any other noise to tire noise, cause the tires aren't that great.

so yesterday i'm driving somewhere on curvy roads and the sound started getting very deep and loud after a while. i was worried but had to get back home, and by the time i did, it sounded like i was driving with metal studded tires on the front. it definitely sounded like the cv joints are shot again, when turning especially. I looked at the boots and couldn't see anything shredded.

basically the 5sp transmission seems fine. it shifts great and the acceleration is normal. so what could be going wrong i'm going to do a closer inspection with the jack when i get home from work, but i'm really confused. PLEASE HELP

I think I'm experiencing something similar. I'm getting the noises as I came to a stop from 40 MPH. I have no idea what it is, but I'm getting my car checked out tomorrow.

I'm not so sure it isn't the transmission now, like maybe a bad differential. I've had a slow leak of transmission fluid for a while too, something that the motorvate.ca guy had when his tranny went bad. Do the noises you get change depending on the gear you are in? with mine it does not seem to make any difference. also, it was louder at first only at 45-55mph, now it has filled out over all speeds. Maybe another way to describe the sound is a churning, grinding noise, and it's so loud the car is pretty much undriveable. Either way let me know if you find anything out. thanks, sean
