anti hijack feature...
hey guys. My max has got this anti hijack feature where once i get above about 5 -8 km/h the doors all lock... I would like to disable it as it is really annoying having to keep remembering to unlock the doors again when i stop! I'm guessing there will be some sort of connection into the speedo or speed sensor somewhere? do you guys in the states get maxima's with this feature? or is it just us in NZ with jap imports?
thanks for your help!

Hey Scott - I was just going thru old posts & saw this. Is your max a NZ new or Jap import? If NZ & has an alarm, it's the alarm hooked to the c/l that trips the doors (my 93SEL with CodeAlarm doesn't trip the doors but Mongoose alarms are preset with this feature). If a Jap import, poss Jap specific - my NX Coupe used to lock passenger door only and U12 Bluebirds have anti-hijack feature.
Let me know what kinda alarm you have & if you fixed it. I used to install Mongoose & CodeAlarms for a while...
You can email me direct if you look at my profile.

He has a Jap import. Don't rmemeber if he has an alarm on the car. I have a NZ new with a Dynatron alarm, but my c/l doesn't lock the doors. I hate when the doors lock like that. Had that on my car in the states, but that was from the alarm. Locked my keys in the car(with the engine running!) That ****ed me off
It's a stinking Jap Import - the c/l is driven off speedo that triggers the door timer module - possibly in the drivers door or under dash. It's set to trigger the anti-hijack @ 5mph (8kmh). You could pull the instrument panel out to find the feed wire or find the door control module and look for the trigger wire here.
Most alarms lock the door 2-3 secs after ignition switched on, then unlock them as soon as ign switched off.
And if your alarm allows you to lock the doors with the ign on / car running, you've hooked it up wrong or it's an el cheapo.
