smashed up my 2000 Max SE

rapped up my 2000 Max on June 26th. Very sad. What makes it worse is it was my fault. Collided with car in front of me in stop and go traffic. I guess thats why they call it an accident. I tried to attach a photo but couldn,t figure out how. What really starting to **** me off is that as of today Allstate hasnt even contacted the body shop I brought the car to. They wanted me to go to one of what they call there PRO SHOPS. I figured they were in cahoots with Allstate and would do the job the cheapest way possible. Hey the deductible is $500.00 so Ill take it to whom I want. Does anyone have any idea how I can kick Allstate in the *** and get them to the body shop!!!Tommorrows a week. Also Ill post my pictures if I can figure out how. You can laugh at me or share my pain.

I feel for you man, was just involved in one myself.

In any case, the law states you can choose your own shop. Keep bugging AllState - it took my insurance carrier about 4 days to send out a claims adjuster the first time. Though it only took them half a day to come out again for supplemental claims.

Hope everyone is alright and you get your car fixed

I need to disagree with you about insurance... I am currently work for statefarm, and basically what Pro Shops or in state farm we call it Service First is basically they are the shops that we trust will do a good job. Yes, we pay them a little less then what the public will pay, because of the volume we refer, but it is also meant to be a service to the customer, so they don't have to deal with all the bills, The shops will bill StateFarm directly. And as for the long waiting time.. that has to be All State's fault... call them and check on the status. Insurance is an extremly long process, because they have to becareful on every claim, they have to look at everything, get police reports, etc... and most importantly.. make sure people are not making false claim (3 out of 10 insurance claim is false claim).

So in conculsion, yes, you can take it to whoever you want, IF you know some body shop well enough.. and know they won't rip you off on doing some other crap so you have to come back. and call AllState to find out your status.

Max2000, interesting that you say that. The shop i brought my car to is not affiliated with any insurance company yet they bill the insurance company directly. This is probably a state-state basis.

Actually, the ProShops have it made because they really charge what they want in perspective at least. Last year I had hail damage, the allstate "Drive In" wanted to cut me a check for approx $2300 after my deductable. What is funny about this is that the proshop charged allstate $5100 to complete the repair once done!!

The reason your bodyshop has not been paid is because you should have gotten the check from a Drive In made out to you and the bodyshop of your choice. Your claims agent should have told you to do this if you didn't pick a proshop. Allstate protects themselves by doing their own estimate before you take it to your own shop and they charge an astronomical amount.

Good Luck, I am sure it will all work out.
