Noise - Wheel Bearings?

I've developed a low pitch sound "ERRRRRRR" sounds like snow tires. at speeds above 35mph. Sound is completly speed sensitive and not RPM sensitive. At speeds of 60 and above it is very annoying. I suspect wheel bearings. Any advise on how to check or other ideas would be appreciated.

you are more than likely correct. either it is bearings or tires. i changed tires. sound still there. i changed all bearings to new and sound was gone. quiet as a mouse.

stick your foot at the top of each front wheel and try to rock the car back and forth. if you can see ANY movement in the wheel compared to the car, then you've got a bad wheel bearing, suspension bushing, strut, ball joint, strut mount, something.. likely it will be a bearing in your case though.

i had a strange grinding sort of noise coming from the rear when i cornered left at about more than 45kph and it turned out both my rear wheel bearings were shagged. so its a possibility.

yes. often, anything to do with your wheels or tires can cause some of the worst sounds and fears of all, yet are relatively simple things to fix. tires alone, bad ones, can make your car sound like it needs to be taken to the salvage yard.
