Another new person, just bought a 2001 Maxima 20th AE

It's got 34k miles, spotless interior, couple nicks in the paint that I've found.

Previous owner put on a stick-on-the-glass cell phone antenna, which I want to remove soon (looks kinda tacky, since it's not even mounted on the centerline of the car - it's _close_)

It's white, with gunmetal grey wheels, Bose stereo, etc., etc.

Seems to have a bit of brake judder, and I've got about 1800 miles left before the 3/36 warranty is up. Should I let the dealer fix it, or get good aftermarket rotors, and install 'em myself?

Spent the evening reading the massive FAQ's. Thanks to anyone that contributed to 'em, as a new owner, I certainly appreciate it.

welcome aboard. AE looks nice

btw, get the dealer to fix the rotors and get some use out of em before shelling out for aftermarkets.

otherwise, enjoy the ride.

AE is one of the nicest maximas IMO. brake judder TSB is only for 2k IIRC. but I have heard ppl had dealer did this TSB on their 2k1.

It's a very nice change from my previous car ('94 Ford Thunderbird, with the 4.6l V8). I can't get over just how much legroom the rear seat passengers have. I'm used to little/no room back there, unless you're short. No problems like that in this car, certainly.

I like the Bose stereo enough that I figure I'll end up selling the sub and amp I had in the Thunderbird.

AEs are really nice looking Maxes... I've only recently seen one on the road, I think its great looking. Maybe even nicer than the 02 (which I decided on).

Mainly I didn't go looking for one because they are hard to find

Let's see, to answer some of the above..

It's an automatic..

I paid $21.4k

Didn't see a 2k2 around, and I was rather taken by the looks of the one I bought

SC or turbo? Perhaps down the line, right now, I'm just going to enjoy it as is. Not looking forward to replacing tires, however.

Welcome to Org! I jus bought my AE a month ago and i used to have a thunderbird before that too

Only difference is mine's a stick and it had 29k miles. You got white with black leather interior too? kinda relived to see that u paid that much aswell cuz mine cost me an arm and leg and i was kinda iffy bout the price. well worth it tho. AE's are amazing and i chose it ova a 2k2 and 2k3 aswell. good choice.

White exterior, tan interior. I don't know that I'd like a black interior living here in Georgia.

AE Bose sub Wiring

Maybe some of you AE owners can help me. Mine was new, to repalce my 1991 Max automatic, which is still going strong for my Cousin. I bought the 01 new, with 5 spd. My son is trying to upgrade the Sub woofer. I went and pulled the wires out of the block that is on the end of the cable from the amp which plugs into the block on the speaker in the parcel shelf. I just assumed the colors would match. Now I have five loose wires, red, green, white, and 2 blacks. The block on the speaker has orange, purple, yellow, blue and black. If someone would crawl into their trunk and give me a color match I sure would be gratefull. It seems I have to get the original speaker working so I can tap into the wires right at the speaker cone, then to a high to low level adapter then into the RCA jacks of the new sub woofer amp.

Thanks, Eric

Congrats, I still have my 94 tbird. What is it with AE owners and Tbirds.

I have the brake judder as well. I'm trying to get the dealer to replace the rotors but will probaly end up getting them cut. I think it is only the front.

Oh, had to correct myself from earlier - I don't have a tan interior, it's a grey interior. I'll have pics tomorrow, given that work isn't so busy I miss taking lunch.

yeah i saw that
i know some of the bose guys here have upgraded their subs so i know it can be done rather simply. i think the bose amp is built into the sub. so i would think that if you just take the signal wires to the sub and reroute them to a new sub, you'd be set. i wouldn't use the stock power and ground tho.
