Yours looks a little crooked. I also recommend to find some way to brace it. I didn't and my filter rubbed a hole in the AC line that runs behind it. Don't make my mistake.

Since we are on the subject of FrankenCar intakes. I have a couple of questions of my own:
-Is it necessary to leave the battery diconnected(Reset ECU) for 24hrs. before installing the intake???
-Is it necessary to re-use the stock rubber "accordian" looking coupler instead of the silicone coupler??? (I heard it was necessary to re-use it so that the intake will have play with the engine etc.)
-Will the supplied brace be good enough???(Don't want to end up having a hole in my AC line like ORG. member maximamaybe)

The accordian is NOT necessary although it helps for to isolate engine play. The brace should hold up if you use the accoridan I believe.

Definitely disconnect the battery during install. As far as resetting the ECU, you should be able to pump the brakes a few times with the battery disconnected. That should do it. No need to leave it disconnected for 24 hours.

Huh, and all this time I thought it was for increased airflow resulting in more horsepower.

AND IT'S LOSE, NOT LOOSE!!!!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

The "stupid silver thing" is the throttle body.

What would happen if I install the intake without unplugging the battery?
