Wheel bearing replacement: who had it done?

Somebody posted about wheel bearing replacement. What were the symptoms and what was the cost? I have a rattling sound coming from the front and I have eliminated a few of the obvious things to check.

I did . Dealer kept blaming my squeaking and klonking noise on my suspension mods until I threw a fit in the service dept. and they finally sent a mechanic on a ride with me . He said he would try the bearing and that solved everything .

I had the bearing and hub replaced by the dealer under warranty. The car was making a whining noise from the wheel when I went over 30mph.

I had posted too, but my bearings I think were fine. I didn't even have any clunking or rattling sound. My problem was that my brakes were only working if I completely depressed the pedal. We even flushed the fluid, but it wouldn't solve it. So I took it to the dealer who put it up on the hoist. I saw it too and you could literally shake the entire rim and if I had pulled hard the wheel would have come off with the lug nuts on. So you might want to jack up the car and see if you can replicate the same problem. I think my problem was that the hub which is sealed i think had broken so there was no way but to put a new hub. The labor is the thing that may kill you as they charged me like 6-7hrs of labor plus 200-300 in parts. Also if you have a bearing issue get it fixed asap cuz the it eventually damages the axle too.

I just had one of mine replaced last week (Wednesday-Thursday). Kinda ****es me off that I've had vehicles that have never had one go bad, and there have been several '02-'03 Maximas with this very problem at my dealership (I only had 17K miles), including mine, of course.

And just to vent, I just saw the new damn Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Comp-G commercial, claiming all of these first place finishes over some very serious cars in it's class (for handling and power/acceleration). I've driven the car, and my '03 GLE is at least as fast, if not faster. The new GTP feels like a brick in comparison...
