Mounting body kit question...>

My kit is going to be ready by next wednesday for pick up...I'll prolly pick it up on Friday and install on saturday. Where can I find the 3M double sided tape to buy...and should I also use rivets...? I've seen that mentioned before...any help would be appreciated.

Use the rivets, I dont know if its necessary to drill the holes be4 its painted but I pre-drilled mine just to make sure not to crack up the paint but I might just be exaggerating DO NOT use the double sided tape stillen gave you, go to home depot and get youself some strong double sided tape that will hold, stillens will let go.

for the sides I used the 3m tape and also very small sheet metal screws on the ledge. I used no rivets at all for the front, just the tape and a bolt in each fender. very strong its not gonna go anywhere

For my stillen front lip, I just used the two screws in the fender well and some double sided tape. For my ionic sides, I put on screw on each side of the fender well and one on the bottom. For my ionic rear, I used 2.5 " metal screws all around my bumper. I previously used 1.5" screws and they just came loose to easily. It's not hard to screw in the back just have a friend hold up the rear piece as you drill.

Front lip, I put three SCREWS in each fender well, and three by the foglights, and three on the underside. Used double sided tape but it wasn't necessary on the front for me.

Might be a little overkill, but its not going anywhere.

I used screws to hold my kit on.
Big MISTAKE!
I no longer have a front lip it got stolen!
Screws are too easy to pop out or unscrew.
I'd have somebody who knows how to rivet put them on.

I had mine on for two years also like that, and it was ripped off a month ago.
I doesn't matter how many trouble free years you've had, all it takes is one a$$hole.

I used 2.5 inch screws so there would be a lot of thread left to hold the rear onto the bumper. As to how I drilled. I used a dremel with a drill bit. I drilled the holes into my rear first, then had my sister hold the rear up to the bumper. I drilled through the predrilled holes on the rear piece and went lined it up with the bumper. Be careful though, you might have to drill at an angle. After all the holes were drilled, i screwed them in by hand.

I had all the factory brackets molded into the after market bumpers then used the factory hardware to mount it all back into place. It is installed nthe same way the factory bumpers where installed.

I was kinda joking about the previous post.

For the Stillen type kits I would not use Home Depot or Auto Zone 2 face tape. I would goto a body shop supplier and by there 3-m stuff that is made for cars. You know like the stuff they use to put the fat color coded rubber pieces that run downd the side of our cars, to protect the doors.

One thing for sure...do NOT use the Stillen double sided tape...it's junk. I used it on the front lip along with a couple of rivets at each side fender well. The bad tape let the lip sag. Later, I went back and pulled it up tight and added a few small rivets to the front of the lip and used touch up paint to cover the rivet heads. Click my links to see the results.
