steering wheel questions

My steering wheel has had it and I was looking into getting a new one. I know that most nissan steering wheels will fit on most nissans, but does anyone know if the cruise hookups are the same?

I would like to keep the cruise, since I drive on the freeway a fair amount.

There are two 92 leather Sentra SE-R steering wheels on ebay and both have the cruise buttons on the side of the steering wheel (not embedded like mine). Does anyone know if the cruise and/or horn will work with those?

Just wondering.

thanks

i will assume that most electrical systems between same-manufacturer automobiles are based on the same basic wiring. especially things like headlamps, speedos, and cruise control relays. it is probably a matter of splicing and/or soldering wires. there is probably a positive wire, a ground wire, and a basic switch. if Matt does not reply to this post, somehow get his attention. he would set you on the right track.

Re: steering wheel questions

When you say you have embedded cruise control buttons, I assume that your car does not have the optional airbag for 1992 (Std equipment from 1993)

From what I remember from old posts, Nissan 240 SX steering wheels bolt-on. Sentra wheels may work too....

Like Tom said, it will depend entirely upon which steering wheel you currently have. A non-airbag wheel will not have the same harness as an airbag wheel. I am not sure which airrbagged wheels share the same harness, but I believe that non airbagged Nissan wheels tend to match up- including 240sx and 300zx wheels. Dont quote me on this, as I have an airbag- but I know for sure a non-airbag wheel wont work

Anyone know of a steering wheel for the 93 with airbag? I guess I could get one out of a junkyard with a blown airbag cause my bag is still good.

sorry to steal your post.

confirming that 240SX steering wheel is direct bolt-on, non-airbag. 'tis true, all.

Mine is non-airbag, so I know the 240sx wheel works. The cruise buttons are embedded.

I am wondering about the buttons/plug in on the steering wheel like this one:
