We all know the paint on our cars chips easily. Who has had the dealer touch-up the chips? Were you satisfied with the results? And did they charge much?

I've got several really deep chips that touch-up paint just doesn't do much for. And I followed all the rules of application. I've since purchased a hood cover (no full mask available for AE) and that will afford some protection and cover most of the chips. But I'm thinking about asking the dealer to re-touch.

Is it worth it? I'm afraid the cure will be worse than the problem. Advice, please...

I've never considered the dealer as a viable option to touch up paint chips. I alwasy assumed it was my responsibility.

I, today, applied some touch-up paint to my vehicle. I used the Nissan touch-up paint, supposedly matched to my vehicle, to touch up the paint.

Tomorrow, I will lightly sand and to see the results. I was under the impression the dealer would charge body shop billable hours to fixing the small chips. I thought this to be useless if they used touch up paint, which I had already purchased.

After I washed the car the first time I noticed the dealer had used touch up paint on the rims and it look pretty crappy. They dabbed it on and then it looks like it ran about a centimeter before it dried. Anyways, I hope you have better luck.

what grade of sandpaper do you use...that is a step I have not done for fear of really screwing up. I know it must be a light grade, but what, exactly, works well? srm
