4th gen with dif. way to open trunk.

I saw it today at the Franken Car BBQ. It was AWESOME! Some people told me you could buy the kits on ebay for $5. Does anyone know what im talking about? The trunk lid swings up and over, but stays parallel to the car. Could someone please let me know where i can buy this kit? Thanks

I think people refer it to the "flip-flop" trunk mod or something like that. And also, you should be able to get the parts from Home Depot. All you need are the instructions.

That was me

Cost me $10 for 2 strap-hinges and L-brackets at Home Depot. I don't feel like doing a write-up. It's not hard at all to figure out and design yourself. DO NOT buy the eBay kits, they are made of weak metal and will bend easily.

BTW- I didn't weld mine and it's 100% strong and straight after 2 months

Unless I remove the 4 main bolts that hold the trunk lid to the support arms, my trunk functions completely normal. You'd never even know I had the flip-flop mod...

I was just curious if any one with a big sound system has done this modification? Being that the only thing holding the top of the trunk to the OEM hinges is that little latch, unless it is really tight (which in the write up it isn't), it is going to cause all kinds of rattles.. Just a thought..

Here's a pic I just took. It's the clearest I could get it, my camera is not good for close up shots for some reason.

As you can see, I used a strap hinge cut to length, which I then fastened to both the trunk lid and support arm, then bent the end over the support arm. I then used an L-bracket to support the hinge even more. I had to grind down the bolt heads on the hinge to give it enough clearance to flip-flop.
