just a few simple questions about the sunroof deflector...how easy is it and would it leave holes on the roof where the screws connected??

The sunroof deflector has brackets that hold it in place. But there are no holes drilled into the roof of the car. I have heard some *.org members say that the rubber gasket can rub on the paint and rough it up a bit. Just unscrew the two screws on the deflector and the brackets slide out. It's that easy.

Good Luck.

It's easy, it's only 2 screws to remove. It's not screwed into the roof so there won't be any holes, it's held on by 2 brackets that sit in a little lip.

You are going to see scratches left behind if you remove it.

Not necessarily. It depends on how early you remove it. I removed my deflector early on, and have no scratches. At least not visible ones.

It destroys the paint on the roof. You'll have scratches after only a few months and some org members who had theirs on longer have said theirs is scratched down to the bare metal. As for the look, personally I like look of the car way better without the deflector. It's cleaner and sleeker. But look is subjective, some like the deflector and some don't.

I take mine off when I wax my car, no scratches. I just use a paint cleanser and it looks like new.

My car had less than 1000 miles on it when the parasail came off. No visible damage left behind.

i have a nice 1/2 inch line that follows the pattern of the deflector and it will not go away. I did this at about 16000 miles. I do not see the need for this deflector. It causes paint problem and water/dirt always builds up in side it(i.e. on a rainy day or something like that)

Mine has been on since before i bought my car last year. Well took it off to see how bad the damage was. Yeah. i put it right back on after I put some wax on it to keep it from getting worse. It leaves a line in the paint where the gasket was, and i tried rubbing compound. The only way to fix it now is to repaint. So if u want the sunroof deflector. Be warned that it will damage ur paint unless u protect it somehow

Yeah I took mine off after 43K. There's a line where the gasket was but it's not bad. No scratches or anything.

J.

Mine's for sale BTW.

well I finally took it off today..thanks for the help people...it looks soo much cleaner, especially with the drop now....I still have a leftover line of where the deflector was, but I think a little wax should fix the problem...
