tried AIO... wasn't too happy w/ it

well... I don't know what I am doing wrong here. I washed the car... i probably should have clayed, but i didn't feel like goin out and getting it. So anwyays, i washed it, there were a couple fresh watermarks on the car but I was like, "if my zymol wax can remove the watermarks, AIO would do a better job" ... well, it refused to remove any of the watermarks! I did notice a significant reduction in swirl marks though!

I am going to apply SG today and hope the car looks any better because it really doesn't

I need to clay my car next time. Also, I think since the paint was in good condition already, i was probably expecting alot more. I did try it on my dad's car and wasn't too happy w/ the results either... i din't get taht deep gloss that I was hoping for!

I hand applied it w/ a MF applicator till it was lightly hazed. Then I buffed it off w/ a microfiber towel after a couple hours in the sun. The buffing was surprisingly easy, compared to the Zymol wax i used to use.

well, i just went out to take some pictures... i guess I know why i'm not satisfied...

it's the stupid hood. I need to get it repainted, so many chip marks, oxidation webs and other crap. I Don't know... i feel that I could achieved the same reflection w/ Zymol. Ok well, i'm going to AIO my hood again... then I'm going to SG the entire car and see if that makes a difference. Should I top the SG w/ anything?

anyways, the side doors came out pretty good...

You probably were not satisfied because you expected AIO to do something that it isnt supposed to. Before AIO you need to prep the surface, I use meguiar's dual action cleaner polish. Any compound of your choice should work depending on the level of the swirls etc. AIO has no abrasives so that is why it will not take out any imperfections in your paint.

I guess I will order some DACP and try again. thanks for the tip.

nadir, I agree with Sqard. A polish will help the hood. Then use the AIO and SG. If you want, you could try a polish on the entire car before the AIO. (I have used Menzerna's Final Polish...it really added depth)

The PC is great for applying polish and AIO. You shouldn't have to practice. There are good directions included with the Klasse products. It would be darn near impossible to damage your paint with it.

BTW - the side of your car looks sweeeet!!

Nadir, from what I am gathering, you did not do much in the way of surface prep. In order to get good results with any product, surface prep is the key. With that said, you would definitely need to heed the advice of Blues and Sqard. You will need to use another polish to get out the surface imperfections like swirl marks. Don't get me wrong, AIO is a polish, but it is not abrasive enough to get out moderate swirling. That's why bot have said to use another polish like DACP or Menzerna.

Speaking of Menzerna, I want to get my hands on some to try out. Blues, can you bring it to the meet on 8/17? I'll bring a small jar.

No prob, Prinz. Be happy to. Could you bring the wax you put over your SG? (Souvereign?) I'd like to see how it works on black. We could wax a small area right at the meet.

As said, AIO is very mild, which is very typical of pre-cleaning products for wax/sealant systems because they always have to be gentle enough for paint in very good condition as well. Just think of AIO as a very mild polish that adds a bit of protection too.

Zymol may have filler products in it that will hide the waterspots but not remove them. Best to get rid of them first in a separate step before moving forward. Remember: if you don't get some defect out in a previous process, it will usually still be there after you use the next product. Good luck.

I'll have both my S100 and my Souveran for the occasion.

AIO should be very easy to buff off my hand. Those 20 dollar piece of crap things are suuuuch a waste. There really is no substitute for a porter cable unless you are experienced with a rotary.
