Idle problems. Engine shuts off when changing from Park to reverse. quote:

I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima SE Auto transmission. When I change gears from PARK to REVERSE my engine dies (RPM GETS REALY LOW). But when I change gears from PARK to Drive everything is fine, engine dies sometimes though. When car warms up everything is fine Also it takes longer time thne usual for my car to change gears. There is something like a pause between gear changes. The only code I have in my car is a Knock sensor.



ANY IDEAS PEOPLE ????

 

I had trouble with my 5-speed idle dropping and the stalling. I cleaned the throttle body and I haven't had any problems since. Have you tried that?
