Just installed a JDM 5spd tranny=smooth!
Just installed a JDM 5spd tranny=smooth!
when i bought the car i had a feeling it was going to need a new tranny. it lasted about 5k before needing one. I ordered a JDM tranny with only 12k on it. Just this past weekend my friend and i put it in. The car shifts unbelievably smooth and pulls extremely hard now. needless to say, i am very satisfied and pleased. Mad props for JDM..
Re: Just installed a JDM 5spd tranny=smooth!
Are there any differences between the JDM transmission and the US one? Or do you think the difference you felt was due to only 12K on it? I'm auto and I'm considering a swap and would love to know. Thanks.

OOOOOOO JDM!!!! Shut-up, seriously. It's the same tranny. No one cares that it came from Japan. If your ricer mentality insists on telling everyone that you're cool cause you have japanese domestic market parts on your car, then have at it, but no one really cares.
That being said.... glad that the new tranny is working out for you and that it shifts smoothly. And good job on doing it yourself. Not too many people have the courage to do it themselves.

Gates,
I am pretty sure that the big difference that i noticed was just how new the tranny was.
Nismo, ----I got it for only $1100. not bad considering it would have cost me at least $2000 or more to have it rebuilt. plus this thing is basically brand new and came with a 6 month unlimited mileage warrenty on it.

I definately could not have done it alone. my friend helped a ton.
Sorry about the ricer comment. Just tired of hearing about how JDM = GOD. Glad to hear that you got a good price. You might also check on car-part.com Just did a quick search and came up with the following:

no worries dude. I did do a search on there as well, and you are right they have some really good deals sometimes. I just found that most of the decent ones were between $900 and $1600 and usually had quite a few miles on them. Plus when i found out that most of them would charge $300-400 for shipping. it just made sense. I only paid $110 for shipping. anyway, just a little more insight into the JDM route for you.
