Get in on the red/clear GD in the Group Deals Forum, add $, wait 6 weeks & voila! Red Clears.

(That's the theory, anyway).

Go with the 97-99 rear end conversion.
What kind of "custom red clear job" did you have in mind?

you can't clear out your stock ones if that's what you're thinking. The 97-99's can be done because they have a yellowish lense behind the outer lense which can be removed and replaced with a white lense. Our 95-96 lenses are yellow through and through, and there is no way to clear them out. Just find some (if you can) 95-96 red/clears and pop those on. They look awesome. I do however, equally prefer the 97-99 trunklid with red/clears over the 95-96 with red/clears, but that will just make for shelling out alot of extra $$$. I say, find some 95-96 red/clears and get em quick.

Complete Instructions on how to "red out" the tails... http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=41
This is a cheap and easy mod, but I would honestly say go with the 97-99 conversion all around front and back it looks a lot better. (assuming you have the money) thats just my .02

everybody hates on alteeza's that i think don't look all that bad considering the options us 95/96 guys have... i dont have the $$ to do a rear coversion, red/clears are difficult to find, so i chose alteezas til custommaxima comes out with the red/clears or anyone else.. the stock orange tails are IMO.. so ill keep my alteeza's for now..

Get some altezzas and do the skyline conversion

it will give you that look that was taken from us and put on the new monte carlo

here is the how to:
http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=14

This is my plan. Get be sure to get the same color as your car, and put on a good couple of coats. I am going to do a little wet sanding and a good primer before i paint mine, but i just want the least amount of light to shine thru the paint job.

And remember.......it is our job as americans to take the rice out of ricers.......

You have to find all clears and paint them or find previously made 95/96 red/clears. You can't make them since they're not designed like the 97-99 ones

I'm (still) waiting (patiently) for somebody to market some 95-96 red/clears. I don't want to do em' myself, and Altezzas look really cheap to me.

if you have the money id go for the 97/99 rear end convertion. But that may look a lil weird if you keep the 95/96 front end! OR you can buy DavidL tails off an Org member that is selling them, but be ready to pay 250-300 for the set.

otherwise, i guess you will have to wait for someone to manufacter clear/reds for the 95/96.

do the 95-96 red/clears look the same as the 97-99 red/clears? http://www.custommaxima.com/AluminumDashKits.php
these have the red on top and clear on the bottom for the 97-99 model

No, it's opposite. The red/clear will be aligned the same way as your inner lights (the ones on the trunk-lid itself) Otherwise, you'd have to replace your inner lights as well.

you can't clear stock 95-96 to red/clear, but also why dont you just keep those stock ones and shave the inner tailights? thast what im doing. also get altezza's and paint so only the 2 circles show to get the skyline look??

95-96 red/clears are rare because they stopped the production of all clears which were used, to paint teh bottom half red to match the inner taillight. hope this helps.

There's been a lot of threads about this lately. I mentioned masking off a circle on the white and painting all red. Someone else mentioned a small rectangle. If painting the outside all red, I wonder if this would possibly keep it legal. I did a crappy edit to an image just to give an idea of what I was thinking. Hopefully it will appear hear.

cheapest alternative is the $3-5 red-out mod. All it does is get replace the color from amber to red. Doesn't look that great, but it is an option.

(red vinyl covering only the amber section)

Well I was thinking of this. You could possibly clear them out yourself. It would end up with you buying some altezzas and destroying them though. If this is possible or someone finds a way to try this. You take your old outside lights or some from the junk yard and somehow cut the orange part away from the red part. Take the altezzas and match the top parts size and cut the clear lens of the altezzas out and make it the size of the top turn signal. Go to Lowes or home depot and get that flourescent light cover stuff. You know the stuff you use to make the home made 97-99 clear lens'. Anyway take that and make it the size of the lens housing and glue or seal it in there with some sealant so it stays in one place on its on. Then get the clear lens you cut from the altezza and seal it on the top part of the outer tail light real good and voila Home made 95-96 red/clear tails. Itd cost you money but it MAY work.

Disclaimer: If you try this Its not my fault for any mess ups you do, or damage to anything, or bodily harm you have caused. Ive never tried this, it was just a thought of how it could be done. So if you screw up its on you not me

If I were you, just do a full 97 conversion. It looks cleaner. The lights don't look terrible.

1. go on ebay or 4th gen for sale forum and look out for 95-96 red/clear
2. do a 97-99 rear convertion, then buy the 97-99 red clear
3. do nadir's red-out mod
4. buy altezza
5. stay stock
