Jepht20, enjoi you are the first candidates, as long as you can drive to Nashua, NH or find a place that can do a before and after dyno and install.

Please, PM your stats of your cars, mods, mileage, and last time it was tuned.

Nahsua.

I think those are the obx ones they had on e-bay once. Its good that we can use any y-pipe we want and those suckers will never rust.

i heard headers to little to nothing for a max. i hope i'm wrong but hasn't org members ported and polished the stock ones and saw little to no increase in HP? i though i remember someone taking 3 lbs of metal out of each tube and then polishing it and got only 8 hp at the wheels for an increase? anyone else remember this. btw if they work and do help a signifigant amount you can count be in for a set. for 500 it better do alot.

He said less than $499, so that could be $300 or $498.99... We need a more solid price and of course dyno plots (which i understand you are in the process, thumbs up for that one because dynos sell)... That being said, if it shows a significant increase in power and price is right, i'd definately be down for a set...

I would not judge those headers till we post before and after dyno.
From my Experience with my CLS. I gained at least 25 WHP from SS headers.
If on the maxima they gain 15 WHP... than that is 15 WHP! no BS!

You won't see 15whp from those headers. They are shorty headers, and don't have the downpipe part, which is the major power comes from becuase that's where the precats are. Shorty headers will give the engine a more exotic sound, but probubly only ~5hp on n/a cars, and a little more for boosted cars. I hope I'm wrong though, but even the LT1/LS1 Camaro engines don't see big gains from shorty headers.

JFYI, This is NOT OBX headers, Those are Stone Racing Headers and are custom ordered from UK.

Ah... the downpipe is coming too, it will be sold sperately. test fit, dynoed too The competition of the y-pipe has to watch out for this baby!

Those who will test-fit and dyno has to do an independent review and post here for you guys.

The internal diameter of pipes of the primaries of the headers are 1 5/8".

You will be STONED!

There are many brands out there who make Y-pipes for our cars, including Warpspeed (best IMO), Stillen, Budget, and Cattman. Prices range from ~$170-350. You can get a fully aluminized mandrel bent Y-pipe from Warpspeed for ~$200 shipped w/a 4 year warranty, dyno proven for 14-25whp/tq. There is nothing new that you can do that will make more power then the current downpipes available.

A shorty header making ~5whp that's probubly peakish in power delivery that's not very usable for ~$400-500 is no competition for any performance part for the Max, and just is not worth it IMHO.

I hope i'm wrong about the power and price, although I don't think I will be about the power. I also think you should make a cheaper ceremic coating option for us who don't care about SS. But if the header doesn't make at least 11whp/tq for around $300, it's not worth it. Also keep in mind header installs on this car is going to be a B!TCH, and labor will most likely run you more then the headers themselves.

do you have the headers in stock yet? how long untill you do? what do you expect the headers to do for our maxs? in terms of sound and performace. where in nashua are you located? are you a tuning shop? private buisness? what makes your different from the Ebay headers?

peace

Same exact pictures as the Ebay ones, interesting. I guess we will all have to wait and see. But like someone else said, shorty headers dont give much power...

Due to the huge demand and To be fair for all, I will select 2 maximas, One Auto and 5-speed. It is okay, to have them installed and tested at 2 independent shops. Also, one requirment the headers has to be installed and tested the same week they are delivered.

The headers are in stock, should be installed and tested and dynoed next week.

I don't think we'll see much gains with headers seeing that others have done it. However, I won't judge until I see the plots. It is MANDATORY that the dyno tests reflect a true before and after with no other mods added/removed. Most important and is that the runs must be made on the same machine and under similar conditions. Running on different machines should be null and void.

yeah i dont see how those will add that much power especially if its going to the stock y pipe, and even with the y pipe i dont see how much hp would be free'd up but i guess dyno's will proove it

It is also my understanding that headers are hard to install on the Maxima's FWD engine. Unlike RWD V8's, the VQ's headers are hard to get to and it takes a painstakingly long amount of time, and could take ~10-12 hours of labor, which would put the price of these headers over a grand, and all for 10fwhp? I don't think so.

If Moodyj is not interest, ChristheNite you are next on the list.
Dave B, the before dyno, installation, and after dyno will be the same day on the same dynojet (withn 2hrs).

Nashua...just to help you out...the maxima ECU needs to adapt to new mods before full gains are realized.

so it would probably be in your best interest to dyno with stock headers, swap headers, drive around for an hour or so, then dyno again with your own headers.

Dev, good advice! We will have a spin or a two after we install the headers and reset the ECU.

On our CLS,we do disconnect the battery to reset the ECU after the install. It greatly helps.
