Nissan Key Value Clutch Kit

I was archiving some other forums and I noticed Jeff said that the Nissan Key Value Kit was crap, and you should order the parts seperately.

Do you guys have anything else to add to this topic? I've got a Nissan kit sitting in my living room, and I'm curious now.

Got PJ calling me today about what happened to my Exedy order. Instead of a refund I'll probably just ask for the clutch to be sent finally.

What happened with the Key Values, why are they so bad?

I might put it on ebay or something, I don't really know any other 5 speed maxs around herer that might buy the kit from me as a stock replacement. I get the feeling I can't return it because I used a discount as an employee at another dealership. I'll have to check on that.

If you sell it local, they will probably come back and you a few times before

the key word in there is Key Value kit. Do you expect for a low budget part to last?

Probably. Did everything come in one box? How did you order the parts?? If you ordered a kit, that's what you probaby got. AFAIK OEM Nissan(aka real clutch parts) will cost over $200 if ordered seperately. ie.. PP, disc, TO bearing, pilot shaft bearing

It was $190, came in one box. I got an employee discount. Wasn't really informed by the parts guy that there was a difference in his kit and seperate parts. Hope there's not a restocking fee.

Its amazing that some parts service guys dont know theres a true OEM clutch and a key value, same thing happened to me- walk in ask for oem clutch thye hand me the key value crap. Had to argue to them that theres a real made in japan clutch not the POS Daiken they gave me. the real OEM one comes in serparate boxes that are ordered individually

I can't believe after the HUGE writeup I did, warning everyone about these idiot kits, people still go ahead and buy these things.

What write-up Jeff? I actually searched for something random and came up with a post you made on something like "autoforums.com"

Gotcha. I think I remember reading your thread about the stock flywheel, but it was just a long time ago. I'm awaiting PJ to get my PM or call me back for confirmation as to whether he still has my Exedy, or is sending my money back.

yeah...

key value is not even stock replacement. Key value is about $170-$200... ask for the JDM version... that one runs around $240 and it is the stock replacement clutch.
