Is my car sick..or is it cause im an auto

My friend has a 99 cavalier z24 (5 speed)..with intake and exhaust. I have a 95 automax with a frankencar intake and a y-pipe. Earlier today, we were at a stop and he started a competition in which he was trying to overtake my car in his..and he almost did. At the end the nose of my car was about 4 feet in front of his. Is my car sick or are cavaliers fast..am i missing something..any info would be helpful. TIA

cavaliers in general are not seen as fast cars...light and small yes but the new one's i hear are supposed to be pretty quick...i'm gonna check out the info on them...would be pretty crazy to see a cavalier beat a maxima or something similar...

As much as I hate them, and there are complete pieces of ****, they are pretty quick. The 2.4L is rated at 150hp in a light car. Not to be mag racer, but I've seen less than 8 seconds to 60 for a AUTOMATIC. Thats neck and neck with auto 4th gen. So I'm sure a 5sp z24 w/mods would be faster...maybe low 7's.
