Acceleration Hesitation TSB, can someone explain?
I think my 2002 Max is suffering from the hesitation TSB, but I am not sure. When I first got the car I can remember taking off and sometimes the wheels would spin. I wouldn't even be pushing the pedal hard. Maybe it was just because the max power was new to me. But now when I try to do it, it doesn't. When I press the accelerator from a stop, not all the way down but far enough, it goes up to about 2 rpm and hesitates for about 2 seconds then jumps up to around 4 or 5 rpms. Is this normal? Do I have a problem or am I just paranoid after having my engine worked on.
You didn't say what your engine work was. BUT you DO need to have TSB# NTB03-023 done, it will for sure get you reprogramed and most likely get you a new MAF# 22680-AM600 since it is a 2002. Just keep after the dealers till you find one that will do it!
I have no asked any dealer to work on my car, even though I have been sensing a very slight hesitation (less than 1 sec) during acceleration. I am surprised to hear that different Nissan dealers cannot solve this same problem even though they have access to the same TSB. One would think (or hope) they have all been trained by Nissan.
I would advise anybody in the DC area to take their car to the Nissan Dealer in Briggs Cheney at the Auto Park. Talk to Susan in service. The last time I was there she fixed my car with no problems. Quick and friendly. Besides if you go on Nissans website, they are ranked in top customer service, for nissan dealers that is. Not that thats saying alot.
Are you serious? You think Nissan who can't solve their paint problems, can't design a robust MAF, can't build a brake rotor that doesn't warp, can't debug the SES light, can't debug the air leaks in the windows, can't figure out the power window problem, CAN train their techs? Get real. The only thing that needs a redesign more than the maxima is Nissan itself.
Technical Service Bulletin. You can search the site and print it up or go to www.nhtsa.dot.gov and find it there. Got mine done the other day and man what a difference!!!
