I just took that pic. Now, to clean it out properly with a toothbrush and cloth and whatever else how far back do I need to go? Would removing the air filter housing and section 1 be adequate or do I need to get to section 2? Also, the section between section 1 and 2 seems difficult to remove - would I have to...?

http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/517 has his way of doing it, but he's on a 4th gen. Is it really the same? Apparently the part between section 1 and 2 in my pic can be stuck along with everything else but I couldn't see that it was going to come off that easily on my 2000...

All in one unit like the guy on motorvate did...? Also, since I'm not in Canada what's an equivalent to his carburator and combustion cleaner that he uses?

 

You have to remove the air box and boot
