How often do you guys race?

How often do you guys race? Just wondering what you people would consider to be too much racing. I raced 13 times this last Saturday at the local 1/8th mile track, which I guess would convert to 6 1/2 quarter mile runs. While I was running I didn't think it was too much, but now I kind of think I may have pushed my car too hard. Because now my damn car has a banging sound when I go from reverse to first and also under hard acceleration. Both sounds are very low, but since I'm the one who drives this car all the time I take notice of these things. Anyway what's your opinions on the racing and the problem with the banging noise?

i try to feel the chariot out. you know the harder you push/drive the car i believe we increase our chances of something failing or needed to be fixed, its the nature of the beast.. but also i try to keep in mind we are driving ONE SERIOUSLY TOUGH CAR and its a straight line race just putting the pedal to the medal.

I would imagine if we were road course racing, and this is a guess, but i would think that is where you would need to be prepared for some repairs.

i usually expect 4 passes, but on a slow night 7-10 runs. I forget at the moment but I got maybe 7 runs in my last time out.

I was out watching other people run that night and one car went up in smoke, blew his transmission I believe, and after that I saw a truck smoking and then the guy put it on his trailer. I asked whats wrong with it, he said blew out his axle or something. I have also seen someone blow up there engine. I have no idea ! The guy was in a Lincoln Navigator and just popped the hood off and BOOM !

I wondered what in the world was the guy doing out there in a big tank but i guess you race anything you can find.

Im thinking you just have to know your car. . On my last trip to the track I drove 130 miles to a track I had never been to with very little cash, no spare or tools, and no cell phone. And of course i didnt take it on a trailor. So you can bet even though I know little about cars Im trying to take tender loving care of the old gal after each run.

just some thoughts.. sorry i cant really help on the other. do you suspect transmission or clutch problems?

I make it a point to go to the track once a week. Usually, I'll get about 5-7 runs in a night, so I figure that adds up to roughly 24 races a month during the season. Of course I'm constantly making minor repairs here and there, but nothing major yet and it's been almost 2 seasons. I'm done for this year though....my clutch is toast

No, now after listening to the car more. I think it's either one or more of a combination of things. First, one of the motor mounts could be bad, two the rsb might be a little loose and three my wheels have these little adapters for them and maybe I didn't install the adapter correctly for the front drivers side rim. Because I've noticed this noise is also evident when riding on the road. I used to think it was my tires because of the tread design. Now I think it maybe the rim. Heck who knows. All I know is that I'm pretty positive it's not the clutch or the tranny.

Just doin the 1/4 occasionally shouldnt hurt too much. The car is made to be driven hard sometimes. Doin the 1/4 requires 2 shifts for me (auto) and thats not a big deal. I think driving it hard on a daily basis is much harder on the car than running the strip a couple times a month

I've been going to the track once a month for the past 6months. Each time getting 3-6 runs in. My car is in tip-top shape but my clutch feels like crap.
