Grinding and rubbing from front BUT NOT IN REVERSE
Grinding and rubbing from front BUT NOT IN REVERSE
I have this weird sound coming from my front wheels and the faster I drive the louder the sound gets. It sounds a lil like the tires are flat and that they are rubbing the splash guards. But in reverse theres no sound. I'm on the highway and I hear it but if I turn the steering wheel slightly to the right around a bend the sounds fades out alot or when i hit uneven pavement and the front wheels are pushed up a lil it goes away again. Could it be from lowering my car and it did something to the front axle or could it be the rack and pinion or something ?
step #1 is to check your brake calipers and make sure they're bolted down properly. a while back, I had one bolt come off a rear caliper, and it tilted up and rubbed on the inside of a wheel. scary stuff. luckily I caught it almost immediately, or it would have been a nasty sight on the highway!!
pull the front wheels off and look for any signs of rubber. it could be the brake dust shield against the rotor, could be a caliper on a wheel, could simply be the fender liner rubbing on a wheel.
