after throttle body cleaning

Ok, got the idea to clean the throttle body, upper intake area, tired of my vehicle bogging down on me, and i got great results from previous cleanings.

So I get a little overzealous and remove the IAAC AVC valve (next to throttle body) and the throttle body, and just go nuts spraying carb cleaner in there.

Wipe out tons of black and brown crap, screw everything back into place, and start the car.

Like whats happened before, its hard to start, seems to choke on all the crap that is trying to burned away, finally spits and sputters and starts, blowing smoke out the exhaust -- rough idle jumps all around.

Well, normally this would stop after a few minutes, it doesnt so I take it for a spin, with the intent to rev it up, and clean it out. Well, idle is REALLY rough and after revving up and then changing gears , when I push in the clutch, the RPMS drop really low, like 100 rpms, and it even died a few times just cruising giving no gas with the clutch pushed in.

So, I dont know if something got disconnected, positive that I put everything back together.

I dont know, going to look at it some more. ANy suggestions? Hopefully I get to work tomorrow :|

Thanks

First go back and double check all 3 of those vacumn lines on the TB and EVERY connector, throttle cables, wire harnesses etc. Maybe something did come loose.

After cleaning my intake I got the 0305 error code for my EGR temp sens. Heck I was about to order a new one and install when I realized it was just a loose wire harness.

codes

Sounds like an air leak --- around the IAAC AVC assembly, there was a semi permanent looking gasket around there, possibly need to be replaced??

Also got Mass Air Flow sensor and Air intake sensor temp ECU codes.

If I have a air leak that makes a little sense, b/c those two connections are in there for sure.

Any ideas.

Probably is your IAC or whatever people call it. I know when me and my friend tried to bypass mine it was a really low idle. Just go back and make sure you connected everything properly.

Did you replace the IAC gasket?

I read somewhere that you should spray carb/throttle body cleaner into the throttle body while the car is running, and not when it is off. That may have been the problem? Not sure though.

Take everything off again and put it back slowly and make sure everything is tight. Make sure you connect all of the connectors and the hoses (don't forget the tiny one) tightly.

When I did my IACV (Idle Air Control Valve - wtf is IAAC AVC?) I didn't replace the gasket. I just took out the IACV and sprayed TB cleaner on it (didn't wipe it, just sprayed it like crazy). Then I took out the 3 golden screws and the golden cap and sprayed the TB cleaner in there. Put everything back together and started the car. RPM went to 1500 and then settled to 700-750. Now when I start the car, the RPM is around 1000 when the car is cold and 700-750 when warm.

Do it again slowly

Spraying TB cleaner into the TB won't cause a problem. Every week or two, I open up the TB and spray a little bit of TB cleaner in it. Put everything back and then I start car It should be getting cleaned on the inside little by little

Hi Bejay,

What part did you replace? I think i may have the same code you had.

There are 3 electrical harness connectors off the IACV. 2 on the sides for the fast idle, and one on the top for idle air control. That's the one that came loose on me and triggered the 0305 code. Mine was silly simple to fix once I realized what happened. I still have a cold idle start of 1500-2000 but that's another issue
