I spoke with Ben at Grille-Tech.com (one of the owners) and he told me the are currently in production of stainless steel grilles which should be available for sale early next month. They will look the same but will not have a rust issue because of the stainless steel. He is going to send me a set when then are available so I can take pictures and see how look. I will post pics as soon as I get them. I just wanted people to know just in case they were thinking about getting a grille from them. It will be wise to wait till next month so you can get the stainless steel version of it.

 

Nice, but I'll believe it when I see it. How many times have they said this only to have the "new and improved" ones rust too?

I'll guess the same!! I tried getting a grille for my max and they don't have any in production. I hope they start making them ASAP!

I don't really care about the rust issue because I'll just clear coat it beforehand (but it does suck for those who had to learn the hard way). All I want is a grill that directly replaces the 2K1 grill without having to cut my original grille. Plus, I'm not really into attaching my grill with zip ties, would rather have some screws. Anyways, hope they produce something for the 2K and 2K1 soon because I don't want to have to swap bumpers for a grill change.

 

And how exactly do you plan to attach a grill with screws without cutting out your stock grill? Where are you going to screw it to?

You do currently have an option without cutting out your grill...putting a Street Scenes grill over top of it. KPazzo did this, there is a write-up on his site.

Well, I have never taken off my front bumper, but I thought that the grill was removable and not part of the entire bumper (so please correct if I am wrong, but it would be a pain in the @$$ to replace the entire bumper if something should happen to the grill). So, what I was hoping for (if the grill were removable) would be something like the Street Scene Speed created for the Stillen green Altima- http://www.stillen.com/sportscars_de...&id=335&page=1 . Again, I never paid much attention to the grill because that was the last thing on my mind, but if it was able to be done I would like something like the Altima grill. BTW, thanks for listing KPAZZO's page.

EVEN if they make a Stainless Steel grille, and it is guaranteed not to rust -- GRILLE-TECH sucks! They DO NOT stand behind their product. What is the point of a guarantee or warranty if you don't respond to customer complaints?

 

i like JMS grille!!! i think is much better than grill tech...

 

On a 2k2-2k3 the front grill is removable but on a 2k-2k1 is needs to be cut out. But the Street Scenes grill that KPazzo did looks alot like the Stillen one you linked to and it can be done without cutting the stock grill out.

 

Let's not forget that stainless steel still discolors. Esp. if they use a cheap grade of stainless; it may rust just as much as the originals. No, I will save my money this time. I've been burned by this company once, I don't need to send them anymore money.

I would be curious to see the grill-tech stainless grills, but I am still going to replace mine with the JMS lower grills. Now if that group deal would go through...............

 

Reasons why I won't buy Grille-Tech:

1.) I hate the company. Its customer service sucks.
2.) They're making the grill out of stainless steel, which is heavy.
3.) It's not guaranteed to not rust.
4.) Did I mention I hate the company?

Reasons why I'm buying JMS grill:

1.) They made their grills out of aluminum which is much lighter than stainless steel.
2.) There is a group deal, set up by studman, right now in the GD forum.
3.) I've heard several satisfactory stories from people who have bought their grills.

Is Grille tech going to do anything about the people with rusted Grilles ? Or are they just going to try to squeeze more $$ out of them. Pmas, they used to send me the " new" stuff all the time. I guess now they will try to use you, since I flamed the crap out of them here enough times.
