Local Junkyards sell this VQ engine a dime a dozen.
My car RUns Like AZZ , has the past 50,000 miles too and ive replaced many sensors and many many parts by now.
Options:
Sink more $ in parts on my 95 Max SE AUTO.
or
A Infinity J30 95 AUTO engine Costs $300.00, or I can KEEP putting $$ into sensors and More Parts that Im UN-sure will ever fix anything.
For example: MAF sensor costs $488.50
IAC costs $228.99, EGR + Back tranducer costs $$$ too.
I've already Spent $1200 in parts with All O2 sensors, Knocksensor, ECTS, 3 fuel filters, $100 spark plugs, Coils, ect.....
Im MAD i have no reliability or testability like Honda's . yet still
smiling b/c i dont drive a small economy car. what to do.

the j30 won't just plain bolt in.. if you get it to work at all, you will kick yourself in the a.ss for not going 5speed anyway. if you want to perform this kind of a swap, you are better off going with a vq35de. best bet = buy a vq30de/5speed tranny and wait till your motor actually dies. meanwhile build up the motor and tranny and swap them in when you must

Vg30 N/A SUX, why do you think Nissan discontinued it. But anyways, people have swaped a vq35de in a max, Your better off getting a VQ30DE-K 5spd. Added hp from 190 2 222 or something like that.
I dont know how possible swapping a vg into a maxima since the mounting on the maxima is sideways as opposed to the j30 which is mounted water pump facing forward. Anyways I got a '98 infiniti i30 engine to put in my '95 max for $540 including tax. The problem is that the intake manifold and the ehhaust manifolds are different in the '97 and up.

Plus when you buy an engine you don't always get all the sensors. I didn't get the MAF for one. To be sure you got everything you're talking about you'd almost need a front clip, which will cost you a whole lot more.
