busted passenger mirror

Hey ppl, wassup...
I woke up this morning to a busted mirror, passenger side.
Cant tell if it was accident or on purpose.
Now the thing is that the mirror is still intact, not even cracked. I was able to move it with my control switch from the inside. The outer cover(the color part)isnt messed up either, however, the bottom black piece, that complete part where the mirror swivels forward and back is all messed up.
Called the dealer for estimate. Said the whole thing gotta go.
About $175 for piece + $130 and change for labor.
Plus, the paint to match the new one is $50 est.

Yall think the junkyards will have the bottom piece only, or am i gonna be broke this christmas? Is it possible to take off the color cover off the busted part and keep that part o.g.
Is there anywhere else that i can go to buy original stock piece for cheap.
Im thinkin i could probably do this myself, except the paint maybe.

This whole morning im driving around and the mirror is hanging by the wire, literally. Tough car.

Ask around junk jards. I had same story. Got it for $70 from the j-yard. No need to paint anything either, the painted cover is held with 3 screws which you can reach when you take the mirror off the engine mount and put into the other. But be carefull it's very fragile, I cracked mine, but thanks God had another mirror.
