Intake vs. Winter Weather

I want to order the Injen intake for my 2003 Max but am concerned about doing so now that winter is here. I live in Green Bay WI and although the winter has been mild thus far I am concerned about road salt snow and that kinda crap on the intake.

For the people that have to deal with snow and salt during the winter months do you guys run your intakes all year. I just don't want to spend $300 (with the sheild) and have the winter salts and snow ruin it.

What do you guys think. I would assume that the injen intake would hold up to the elements.

Post your thoughts and opinions.

it'll be fine... mine is.

and $300 is way more than you need to spend... someone will post the link from the .org guy in a minute, but don't spend $300 on it (might be swauto?)

I was looking at it on Custom Maxima it was $249 for the intake and another $65 for the shield.

Do you have the Injen? Did you buy the shield with it or am I just wasting my money on the shield?

Thanks 2K

If it is the Injen that you have do you like it? Does it sound good?

Dave , why not consider the PlaceRacing CAI? thres a GD on them going on-

You'll have no probs and its a true CAI- Only you would know how bad
the winters could be in GreenBay-

I have injen and like it. No shield, and I'm not so sure GreenBay is much worse than NH and northern Maine (my parents live there and I visit a lot).

I think it was southwest autoworks or something like that... he said he'd be happy to sell an injen for $220 but you have to call and ask for that price.

Place Racing requires you to drill a hole in your car.

I wouldn't worry about the elements, MD doesn't get nearly the snowfall, but probably put down 3x the necessary salt when it does snow, this will be my third winter with the intake. I don't have the shield and am lowered quite a bit now without any probs so far this winter. We got a couple of 6in storms and my undercarriage was plowwing throu the snow(great sound) intake a-ok. sorry for the ramble but check out www.adventon.com for prices super cheap, buddy got one for his 2k2 for like $209. Buy it, you'll like it.

I was sending people to adventon, then I read this...

$212 shipped!

Thanks 2K I am going to call SWA tomorrow and see what they can do for me.

Thanks for the reply Manny. I was looking at the Place and Catman intakes but I don't want to cut into the car. I also like the polished looks of the Injen and the way it runs down the front of the car instead of to the side. And yes I would be the one to know about the winters here but I was looking for a general idea of how people handled snowy areas with Salt and the intakes. Just in General.

an idea... You were ready to spend $300 and now you'll spend $212 shipped... even if it's just $10, take some of the savings and donate to the org.

I just did

https://maxima.org/members/sub_donate/index.shtml

And everyone else who's reading this... if this post saved you some money, donate some percentage of what you saved because you read this post and we'll all be on the way to a faster, friendlier org.

Oh Yeah Intake !!

I did a little research this morning and ended up calling Custom Maxima (www.custommaxima.com) and getting the Injen intake from them along with a front strut tower bar. Price was awesome and Greg & Steve were both very responsive. They ARE an authorized dealer for Injen!!!

I purchased my clear corners from them previously and was pleased with there efforts in getting those items shipped to me.

I would highly recommend that you give Steve or Greg a call at Custom Maxima if you have a need for parts and see what they can do for you.

Thanks Custom Maxima I will be doin business with you in the future.

I have mine intake for more than a year. Where I live it rains alot and snows alot. I drive with my intake on a bad weather like flood warning and blizzard and stuff. (Why I would do that! I am a dumb as$!) But I was suprsied that water didn't get into my intake and was impressed.

Actually I am going to make another donation to the org. The org is the main reason I got such a good deal. Custom Maxima likes to see that members from the org are coming to them for parts.

Can't wait for that intake.

How loud is it?? I want it loud !!

I am like a kid in the candy store !! I just wanted to say thanks to Custom Maxima again. I can't wait to get my intake. Car was too quiet. And by the way if anyone was interested Custom Maxima did beat the $212 shipped price that SWA posted in competition to Adventon.

There have been posts for the Injen intake going for $202. My suggestion is stay with who knows the car and who is supporting the org. I know if there are any issues with my intake that Custom Maxima will take care of it. I can't say that for adventon or any other companies outside of the org.

below about 3500 rpm you'll never know you changed anything... above that there's a "significant" difference that'll put a smile on your face like this every time you floor it.

that's actually the reason i got mine.. .didn't want the wife to know I swapped the intake. She doesn't drive aggressively so she never hears it. One day she said "I know you did something but I don't know what" and I asked if she wanted to know and all she said was "if it doesn't affect the warranty I don't care" ... she still doesn't know

Minus the fstb, how much did you pay for the Injen from Custom Maxima including shipping?

No I will tell her she just doesn't like my cars when they are loud. When I had my 97 I had a custom made intake and complete stillen exhaust and she wasn't a fan of it. When I bought this one she told me that she would prefer to leave it stock. Yeah like that would happen. I have left it stock for a few months now. Enough
