That sucks. Looks more like the door took the brunt of it. Let us know what it cost to repair.

I noticed right away that the '04 mirrors don't fold in both directions like my '98 Max did. I guess they are trying to save some money to pay for the cool screens.

That is so rude, they could have left a note & phone number if they were in a rush, and offered to pay for it. I just dont get people what ever happened to common courtesy. Morons ! Maybe they wont charge you too much more than a arm.

Yea, pretty amazing how some people can be.

I think they took the time to push it back in so that it would not be noticed. When I came back to the car there was a minivan that was very close to it. I remember commenting to my cousin that when I originally parked the car there was a different car next to me and I had plenty of room to get out etc.

When I got in this time, I had to squeeze in, even bumped van with my door.

I really don't know if it was the van that did it or not.

Another user posted on my forum that he had to pay about $260 on an 01 Max, so we will see. I plan to be at the parts dept. first thing Friday to see what can be done. I am sure they will have to order a mirror, but in the meantime, I am concerned about what to do to "mend" it back to the vehicle.

It is quite embarassing to ride around in this new Max and having to reach out and hold my mirror to the car.

I was thinking of using some of that J-Weld stuff to try and attach it back in the meantime, but not sure if that will work.

Man I can almost feel your pain. That sucks. Well at the very least if you are gonna add the side mirror indicators now would be a good time.

Side mirror indicators? As in with the turn signal in them? Hmmm, didn't know that was an option.

Got some bonding stuff from the hardware store today with a couple of cheap $2 clamps, and all is well now. Still going to check with Nissan about getting a replacement though. But at least I can drive my baby again!!

Final update on the cost of the new mirror. Nissan says about $225 for the mirror and $85 to install it.

Actually, that was the weird thing... When I called my local Nissan dealker, they said they werent painted, but I know they are. I am going to call them back and actually give them my VIN number just to get a more accurate price.

On the car that we picked up yesterday, the driver has the option of folding in the mirrors when stopped. I guess your car doesn't have that feature?

Good luck with the repairs.

Edit: Ok, you do have it, but the door took more of a beating than the mirror...

You know...for the longest I couldn't figure out what the heck the big deal was w/ the Driver's Pref Pkg which included that feature (power folding mirrors)... But IN THIS CASE, I see the light! If I had it, I would definitely use it ALL THE TIME when parking...especially @ the MALL!!!

And that price is pretty damn steep, Nightline! Why don't you just report it to your insurance company--you must have DEEP pockets! I would be FUMING HOTT if I had to dish out 300 bones myself for a freaking sideview mirror!!!

My deductible is $500 for my insurance... As for the deep pockets.. I am single,, 33, and doing pretty well, so, the cost of replacing the mirror wont break me, but I may hold off on it for now. The bonding solution we used is holding up very well.

I've had a $1,000 deductible for about 4 years. I buy my own mirrors and windshields but I'm $7-8k ahead.

Everybody always laughs at me when I park a mile from the store but that whole mirror bit is why. Sorry to see that happen, I'd be sick for a week if that happened to me.

I broke the mirror off my AE in my own driveway all by myself. Sometimes I'm my own worst enemy.

I'm sooo w/ you on that! My wife thinks that parking so far away or crooked will make people think that we're conceited and/or vain of what we own. Totally wrong! I'd say it's about 25% profiling and the rest is just keeping people the !@#$% away from my car so things like this won't happen! You feel me?!!

I park far away as well, with no one around me. Sometimes my sisters make fun of me, but I don't mind. At least I don't leave the parking lot upset l

Same here, but I don't give a **** if people think I'm crazy. IMO, the crazy people are the ones who park in the middle of a pile of cars and shopping carts!

I will now park a little further away than I could just to save my doors from dings in the parking lot. If the lot has a slope to it I try to park with a curb or berm, or other large obstacle on the uphill side of my car to preven runaway carts from comeing downhill at it. Especially when its windy out, they come flying across a sloped lot.

I will never ever be the guy parking on an angle in the center of 4 spaces (or even two). Usually that honour goes to a riced out mid-90's stock base model Neon with sticker mods.

I was on a business trip last week and I left my Max in the parking garage at my office. When I got in the mirror made a weird clicking noise, but looked normal. When I got in last night after test driving a 350Z Roadster (for my wife) I noticed that there was a white streak on the mirror.

The odd thing is that there was no scratch, just a wide white smudge on the forward facing part of the mirror, like someone hit it on their way out. Odd, but I will be going around the parking garage tomorrow and looking at the mirrors of every white car. F**kers should at least leave a note.

Not a week after I bought my I30, some *******, probably getting out of their car in a big hurry, left a nice F***ing ding in my door. I am even the kind that avoids tight spaces like the plague, which is really hard in California. I always give people a lot of room for error. People can be so inconsiderate.

As for parking next to nice cars, my dad had an interesting run in with the owner of an E-Class Mercedes. The owner thought my dad dented his car (he didn't) and so he proceeded to key the entire length of the car, break the mirror, and rip off a windshield wiper. Lcukily my dad was driving a rental and a cop in training witnessed the whole thing.

I park far away too! Look at it this way, the front parking is sometimes for those who don't know how to park. I see them all the time that they can't even align their cars between the painted lines.
