Sylvania Silverstars

Hi,

I bought a pair of siverstars just before xmas, anticipating my test-drive via 81N to Canada.

well, on 23rd, at 6pm, I set off from Baltimore via 83N to 81N through PA to Buffalo and Canada, arriving in Toronto at 3am.

It was pitch dark all night, and the silverstars guided me through the mountaneous dark I-81 roads. I was impressed with its white output, and its ability to illuminate the road several metres ahead. I even tested it during the brief showers, and it still held its output.

I have a 91 GXE, hence this is a vast improvement over the stock.

For those in doubt, try it.

thanks for all the recommendations.

Glad you like them. They treated me pretty good through the blinding fog we had a couple nights ago.

I bought some from Autozone but they were almost as yellow as the stock ones. Wonder why?

maybe you aren't getting as much power to lights as needed or the headlights need cleaned. i bought some for my e36's and they are great. price tag is a bit high though.

Silverstars vs. Xenon ???

Thanks for your input. I was about to buy them around Xmas. Walmart had them for $40/pair. Then I saw Pep Boys had some xenon HID bulbs for only $30/pair.

I know they're not as good as $500 Xenon HID lamps but was wondering how they fare against Silverstars?

I'll eventually try them and let you know unless someone tells me otherwise.

On another note, I bought Silverstars for my friend's '90 Celica and they were definitely whiter/brighter. His car uses a sealed unit. However, it didn't solve his problem of an unusually dim driver-side; passenger side is fine. Does anyone have a clue as to why one headlamp is dim while the other is perfect?

new user name? i'd say it would be the same as what i said above. there has to be power loss somewhere in the wiring or the headlight (the glass) is very dirty. dirty lenses can cause major dimming.

yeah man...tell me about it... some steam (after going through car wash) got into my driver side headlight somehow...and it wont clear up....the light is still nice and white from the silver stars...but its dimmer cuz of the haze on the glass

i think i will do the oven thing to open the lamp and clean it up
