Firewall Grommet Question - Where to run wiring through?

Hey... I know this has been discussed before, but since search no longer works for us non-donators(we're still human!) can someone explain to me the best location to run audio power cable from the battery into the car?

I know some of you mentioned an existing grommet that you can use for running more wires through and it involves removing the cover to the drivers side wheel well or something? Is that right?

Others drilled new holes in their firewalls, but if there is an existing grommet like mentioned above I'd rather just use that. Can someone please explain how to access it?

I've got everything I need to hook up my very first sound system and amplifier. So I wanna get straight to working on it and the only thing holding me back is not knowing where the grommet is or how to access it. So Please help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks guys.

hood pull grommet. have fun trying to get to it from the interior. ya gotta poke it through on the wheel side. in fact, poke it all in and try to find the tangle behind numerouse harnesses, cables, boxes, and whatnot.

i just drilled two holes by the clutch master cylinder. i couldn't get a grommet in there so i just wrapped the wires very thickly with electrical tape making a cone shape then i pulled on them a little bit from the inside to wedge them in there. worked very well. all i have to do is hide the wires now.

So is it not even worth trying? If it is worth it can you explain a bit more on how to get to it? What do I have to unscrew/remove/break to get to it? heh

behind the smaller box of fuses and relays and what not there is a hole that goes into the fender which leads to the door where a large grommet lies. once you get it there you have to feed the wire through that grommet and search for it through the mess of wires that is behind the fuse box inside the car. at least i think that's the one he's talking about.

I used the steering knuckle boot/grommet to run my foglight and amp wires through. I just cut a little slit far enough back on the grommet, and kinda on the side of it, so that water shouldn't be able to find it's way inside. I'm about to use the same grommet this weekend for my remote start/alarm wires I think.
