As with ANY car, the life span is directly porportional to the amount of care to the said car.

Keep running synthetic on regular basis, and you will be able to drive the Max for a long time. I am at 180K, and I am the second owner. The only thing I have had to replace(so far) is the battery, struts, and the engine temp sensor.

A Maxima is no different than any other car. It will last as long as you're willing to absorb the cost of maintaining it. I bought my 97 SE new, have done every service, every oil and trans fluid change with Mobile 1, and am now at 297,000 miles. I've replaced lots of stuff on the car over time, but nothing terribly suprising or excessive.

keeping up with maintanance and servicing, oil changes, tranny flushes, etc. your car will run as long as you live if you keep it top shape.

i have 99.4k on my 95 maxima and have done most maintance on time, and have changed the following items after the big 60k:

- 2 front O2s
- engine coolant temperature sensor
- NGK 1 step colder spark plugs (all 6)
- mobil 1 supersyn synthetic oil + OEM nissan oil filter

and i'm about to change the knock sensor, i am gettin tired of losing WHP after the car is warmed up. my 3rd gear retards like a **** with malfuction KS. so yea.

Can you give me a pic of the odometer?!
I think I'll stick it in my maxima as a reminder to my car that it's possible to make it! =)

LOL,

I have a pic of the odometer when it hit 285,000 miles. I'll take another one when it crosses 300,000 miles. Should be very very soon.

How to care for Maxima to prevent famous differential bearings failure? Syntetic oil in tranny? Change every 30 kmiles as recommended? Well, it didn't work for me... Let's face it: 5-speed trannies in 4th gen are crap.

I don't know how I did it, but I guess after many days of kicking my dads *** for not warming the car up in the morning ("Oh it's ok if I don't dog it, I just keep the RPM's under 2500.") I told him that doesn't matter, there is a huge difference from the car sitting at idle and the car moving. So from those beatings, he's going to let me drive his car ('02 Max SE fully loaded except leather and nav system) since I have a fair bit of knowledge (I learned a hell of a lot from just hanging out here) and I don't put on a fith as many miles as he does. So, take care of your car, or someone that loves that car (everyone on these forums) may pay a visit.
